GOT7 continue to prove that they are one of the leading K-pop groups of the third-gen. We had antis and trolls mocking fans as GOT7 left their old agency JYPE and went on an unofficial hiatus as they expanded their solo career in 2021. We even had the media commenting that GOT7 had technically disbanded while haters claimed that even if they came back they would not be successful. It looks like this reached the GOT7 members, especially Bambam and Youngjae as they came back with a vengeance. After breaking several personal records, GOT7 has now made iTunes history.

GOT7 released their self-titled album ‘GOT7’ with self-composed tracks on May 23. Even though its promotional period was brief, fans were touched when Jackson revealed that they had cleared their busy individual schedules to get together just for the comeback and that GOT7 would always be their top priority. Well, to show their gratitude Ahgases (GOT7’s fandom) have gone on to chart the album on iTunes in 100 countries in just eight days.

GOT7 the fastest Asian act to top iTunes in 100 regions

Fans and non fans were impressed with GOT7’s continued popularity in South Korea despite a year’s hiatus as the album topped Genie, giving them their highest first-day and first-week sales with 191k and 371k copies respectively. If that wasn’t enough, ‘GOT7’ had topped iTunes in 92 countries in the first 24-hours making GOT7 the second K-pop group following BTS to get top iTunes in 90+ countries. And now GOT7 have extended their own record and gone on to make history.

‘I don’t mean to brag’

On May 31, ‘GOT7’ got 100 #1s on the iTunes Album Chart making them the fastest K-pop act and Asian act in history to do so. It is also the second K-pop album to achieve this milestone while making GOT7 the only K-pop group to do in 2022. Fans were impressed as they took to Twitter to celebrate. One Ahgase tweeted, “So got7 are the only kpop group to achieve 100 #1 on iTunes in 2022 and overall the second group in kpop history to achieve this and also they are fastest asian act to hit 100 #1's on itunes album chart too. their impact is insane omg.”
