After being delayed for almost two months, the 78th Golden Globe Awards is finally here! Comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the bicoastal virtual ceremony, with the former presenting from the Rainbow Room in New York City and the latter from The Beverly Hilton in California, where the awards ceremony is usually hosted.

While many watched the stars dazzle in their best attire, the focus, as always were on the actors and their respective shows they were being nominated for. The ceremony kicked off on Sunday, February 28, 2021, with many anticipating their favorites to win in the respective categories. Among the night's early winners was TV series 'Schitt's Creek' and needless to say, the show raked up a lot of chatter on social media for its wins.

With 'Schitt's Creek' winning for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, fans were ecstatic for the show that has been so loved for all its six seasons. The show is an excellent comedy and many of its fans took to Twitter to not only congratulate the series and its creators and actors for winning the award in this category but also to thank the show for what it did for them. "Dan levy is quite possibly my biggest role model, watching schitt’s creek and learning about the creative process behind it has truly given me so much hope. thank you dan for helping and inspiring me and so many others, your win is so deserved," wrote one user. Dan Levy spared no tears in his acceptance speech as another fan wrote, "Schitt’s Creek deserves every bit of this in its final season and we will always miss this gem of a show. That acceptance speech by Dan Levy was also phenomenal! #GoldenGlobes."



 



 

This isn't the first win for the series tonight as Catherine O'Hara, took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy for the series as well. People were really happy that with the well-deserved win even though some hoped 'Ted Lasso' would take it home. "I love both shows, but I am good with Schitt’s Creek winning because this was the last time it was eligible for a Golden Globe. Ted Lasso will be back, and I hope the show won’t have to wait for six seasons to be recognized. #GoldenGlobes," wrote another fan. There were more who felt that 'Ted Lasso' was more deserving as one said 'Was @TedLasso nominated? If so, it was much more deserving. @SchittsCreek is so overrated!" Another said 'Ted Lasso was robbed' 



 



 



 



 

Other nominees for the category were Netflix's 'Emily in Paris' (Netflix), HBO Max's 'The Flight Attendant', Hulu's 'The Great', CBC's 'Schitt’s Creek', and Apple TV Plus' 'Ted Lasso'.

The official 2021 Golden Globe Awards was telecasted on February 28 at 8 pm ET and the pre-show was streamed live from the official @GoldenGlobes Twitter account and on the website goldenglobes.com at 6.30 pm ET.
