The never-ending war between cartels
With season 1, we waved goodbye to Mehdi's niece Shaïnez, who was killed by Chris, Saber’s competitor from Antwerp who loses 300 kilos of cocaine in the previous season, after which his cartel chases down Shaïnez and Liana to get what is theirs. In season 2, we see Mehdi and Liana going back to get revenge on Chris for the death of Shaïnez, and to steal the diamonds that he is going to bid. Once they manage to get the diamonds and kill Chris, Mehdi injures the son of a powerful cartel lord from Venezuela. Then begins a game of hide and seek, where Mehdi and Liana are planning to move off to Canada, leaving all the misery behind, and Tony is planning his move to Italy with his family. Things take a turn when the drug lord orders for Mehdi's head for almost killing his son.
There are many new characters being introduced and a totally different cartel altogether; while many characters from the previous season aren't there, their absense is covered by the new ones. The bond of Mehdi and Liana is much stronger in this season, and radiates the power they have as a fighting duo. The story is well-staged, introducing every character and the role they play in the story. The second season is full of fights, scheming, and staying back for friends who have turned into family. This season will not only see Mehdi and Liana being chased by a South American drug lord, but also see cops navigating their every move.
More gunplay and threatening ultimatums
In the dreams of running away from the cursed city that took their loved ones from Mehdi and Liana, the duo want their chase to end with the Venezuelan cartel boss. Mehdi and Liana gang up with Saber, Sofia's unpredictable cousin, the duo coming together to get rid of their only enemy - the Venezuelan cartel boss. This season will see many death and violence, but also promises a thrilling ride that will make you watch the series in one sitting. 'Ganglands' season 2 is suitably bold in its portrayal of its crime world and the people who rule it. The lack of moral compunction and violence brings together the overall significant performance of the lead. Season 2 will have more action and chase, and will tick off all the boxes of a perfect crime-thriller series. The second instalment will see everyone including Mehdi, Liana and the cops being played by Almeida. Does that ring any bells? A prosecutor from South America who potrays himself as someone who is helping the cops, but insteads takes down everyone who comes in his way of becoming the next cartel boss.
'Ganglands' Season 2 is exclusively available to watch on Netflix.
