'Ganglands' Season 2 on Netflix: All you need to know about exceptional cast of French crime-thriller

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Your favourite French crime-thriller is all set to drop on Netflix next week. Season 1 of 'Ganglands' came out in 2021 and after almost two years Season 2 is all set to sail. Before it drops, let's give you a brief recap of what took place in Season 1 so that you're all ready to dive into Season 2 once it releases. 

'Ganglands' is an amalgamation of action, suspense, crime and thriller. The story's revolves around two thiefs in the heart of Brussels. Mehdi, a qualified robber, and Liana, an apprentice thief, get involved in a turf war between drug dealers after the latter accidentally robs one. The duo are forced to collaborate to get themselves out of the sticky situation and help their loved ones. Here's all you need to know about the cast of the much-talked about show.

Sami Bouajila is a French actor who has won two César Awards. He has worked and acted in two Oscar-nominated movies, 'Days of Glory' and 'Outside the Law', both directed by Rachid Bouchareb. Bouajila plays Mehdi, a trained robber in Brussels and the protagonist in 'Ganglands', who plans his heists through drones and is connected to underworld criminals. While grieving the death of his brother Ilyés, his niece gets kidnapped by a drug lord and in an attempt to rescue her, Mehdi finds himself in the middle of a turf war between two prominent crime families. 

Tracy Gotoas as Liana

Tracy Gotoas is a 26-year-old actress from France, known for her roles in 'Ganglands' (2021), 'Restless' (2022) and 'L'horizon' (2021). Gotoas plays Liana, an apprentice thief in 'Ganglands'. She runs a faux escort services with her girlfriend, Shainez (Mehdi's niece). During one of their heists, Liana and Shainez accidentally steal 661lbs of cocaine, which leads to a drug lord chasing them. Later, Liane and Mehdi team up while collaborating with a crime boss and his family in order to take down another. 

Samuel Jouy as Tony

Samuel Jouy is an actor, director and screenwriter, known for his work in 'French Blood', 'Gauguin', 'The Man from Oran' and 'Sparring'. In 'Ganglands', Jouy plays of Tony, Mehdi’s right-hand man. Tony's character has a spiritual awakening in the show, where he initially thinks of starting afresh and urging others to do the same, while saying goodbye to the world of crime. He formulates a strategy to keep himself alive after several of his acquaintances are murdered. 

Nabiha Akkari as Sofia

Nabiha Akkari is a French actress, screenwriter, singer and director, known to have worked in 'Nicolai Cleve Broch in Ammo' (2022), 'Ganglands' (2021) and 'Groom' (2018). Akkari plays the character of Sofia in Netflix thriller 'Ganglands'. Sofia is a high-ranking member of a crime family. She plots against her family and tries destroying them after discovering the truth behind her parent's death. 

Sofia Lesaffre as Shainez

The 25-year-old Parisian debuted in 'Les Mythos' (2011). Other than 'Ganglands', Sofia Lesaffre is known to have appeared in many movies including 'Les trois frères, le retour' and 'Deep Fear'. In 'Ganglands', Lesaffre plays Mehdi's niece and Liana's girlfriend, Shainez, who gets abducted after a failed robbery. 

All episodes of Season 1 of 'Ganglands' is available to stream on Netflix. Season 2 will drop on February 17.
