Full list of Netflix shows CANCELED in 2021: Here's what we lost

The streaming giant is notorious for axing shows left and right and this year was no different

One of the biggest OTT services that is synonymous with good shows is the streaming giant Netflix. But with the many new offerings, it brings the platform is also very quick and brutal in axing them.

Netflix isn't known for broadcasting its reasons for cancellations which leave fans in the lurch wondering what went wrong. It doesn't matter if the show stars any big names or if it has to do with a particular genre, Netflix is nonchalant about the scrapping. Despite an outburst of fan messages and outrage many of the shows don't get to see the finish line and 2021 was especially hard as a whopping 16 shows had to say goodbye. Read on to know the whole list of shows that won't be returning in 2022.

Here's the complete list of shows that got the boot from Netflix in 2021


1. 'The Crew'

'The Crew' stars Kevin James as a NASCAR crew chief for the fictional Bobby Spencer Racing team. When the owner steps down and passes the team off to his daughter Catherine, James has to protect himself and his crew from her attempts to modernize the team. Even Kevin James couldn't save the comedy and it won't return for a second season.

2. 'Country Comfort'

When her career and personal life get derailed, an aspiring young country singer named Bailey takes a job as a nanny for a rugged cowboy named Beau and his five children. With a never-give-up attitude and loads of Southern charm, this newbie-nanny is able to navigate the family dynamics and be the mother figure they’ve been missing while also acquiring the band she was missing. One season in and the show got the ax.


3. 'Dash & Lily'

A whirlwind Holiday romance builds as cynical Dash and optimistic Lily trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City, finding they have more in common with each other than they would have expected. The show was canceled after only one season.


4. 'Hit & Run'

In this action thriller,  a happily married man’s life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit-and-run accident in Tel Aviv.  Grief-stricken and confused, he searches for his wife's killers, who have fled to the USA but uncovers disturbing truths about his beloved wife and the secrets she kept from him. 'Hit & Run' was another one to bite the dust after only a single season aired.

5.'Cursed'

The fantasy series which is a sexy and gritty spin on the King Arthur story had Katherine Langford of '13 Reasons Why' fame as the lead and was helmed by Frank Miller bid goodbye to the small screen after just one season. Even having a comic book legend and a Netflix darling’s names attached wasn’t enough to save this show.

6. 'The Duchess'

The Duchess, following the powerful and problematic choices of a fashionably disruptive single mom living in London. Her daughter, Olive, is her greatest love so she debates a second child with her greatest enemy aka her daughter's father. One season in and this show too will not be returning.

7. 'Julie and the Phantoms'

High schooler Julie lost her passion for music after her mom died last year. But when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom’s old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit beginning to reawaken, and she's inspired to start singing and writing songs again. The fun musical comedy was canceled just a week ago and a season 2 is just not in its cards.

8. 'Castlevania'

This epic adventure anime was shelved after 4 seasons with its cancellation being confirmed months after its creator Warren Ellis was accused by several women of sexual misconduct. The upcoming Season 4 will be the end of the journey for the anime.


9. 'Cowboy Bebop'

'Cowboy Bebop' is the live-action adaptation of the beloved 90's Japanese anime of the same name that had a lot of fan fervor when it was conceived. The show which stars actors like John Cho was canceled after the first season which aired this year but even the hue and cry by devastated fans and the cast were not enough to save it.

10. 'The Last Kingdom'

This adventure drama which was once saved by Netflix when it took over from BBC was sadly canceled by the streaming giant too. The fifth season of the series will serve as its last with it bidding goodbye to audiences.


11. 'The Irregulars'

Set in Victorian London, the series follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. Sadly for fans of the show, 'The Irregulars' was canceled by Netflix after only one season.


12. 'Jupiter’s Legacy'

This epic superhero drama starring Josh Duhamel that spans decades and navigates the complex dynamics of family, power, and loyalty was canceled after just one season. The finale saw a big twist that left viewers hanging but now unfortunately they won't be receiving any answers.


13.  'Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me!'

The show which explores a sweet father-daughter relationship was another one to go this year. Even Hollywood big shot Jamie Foxx starring in the Netflix sitcom didn't have the power to prevent it from being shelved and its first season will also be its last season.

14. 'Grand Army'

The drama series centering on the lives of five students at a Brooklyn public high school has been canceled after a single season and will not be having a second season as well.


15. 'Bonding'

The dark sex comedy, 'Bonding' follows a New York City grad student named Tiff who moonlights as a dominatrix and enlists her gay BFF from high school to be her assistant was axed after two seasons with the third season effectively canned.

16. 'Mr. Iglesias'

The multi-camera comedy series that follows a teacher who tries his best and teaches a group of talented yet misfit kids was not renewed for a third season by Netflix and is this final show from the long list that will not back.

So if you were planning on watching any of these, then think twice as you'll be left hanging.
