Aaron Wallace's (Nicholas Pinnock) patience has reached the threshold as his uphill battle against the legal system is being bogged down by one too many obstacles. When the only witnesses he was counting on to overturn his conviction were stopped from testifying at the court, he realizes he undermined the power and influence of his opposition.

While Aaron believes that the photocopy of his original case file, which he obtained through Hassan Nawaz’s (Felonious Munk) brother, can help him a great deal in his re-trial. He tries to use his latest paralegal representation to expose the inner workings of the District Attorney office.

Episode 5 of 'For Life' sees the tables turn on Aaron, but only briefly. Just when he begins to grasp his straws, O'Reilly (Eric Jensen) once again manages to find a major flaw in his latest case which changes its course.

Meanwhile, Safiya Masry (Indira Varma) is hellbent on putting an end to the crippling drug issues in the prison, unaware of the perils it could bring upon Aaron.

The latest episode also showcases a wholesome father-daughter moment, when Jasmine Wallace (Tyla Harris) comes to see Aaron in the prison to ask about DA officials' interrogation into Marie Wallace (Joy Bryant).

However, Aaron's desperation for freedom not only convinces Jasmine to forgive him but also changes Safiya's opinion about her stringent rules and its impact on his life while he continues to remain imprisoned.

The latest episode was more or less a clash of powers — knowledge vs influence. While Aaron uses his expertise in law to make the justice system suffer, the District Attorney officials use their political power to thwart his plans, although unethically.

Episode 5 also ends with Wild Bill asking Safiya for more time to consider the plea deal. But Aaron may have to face the consequences of the prison warden's misjudged move as the inmates have begun to treat him as a snitch for helping free convict.

This also puts him under figure pressure to figure a way to get out of prison before his suffering could stretch any further.

What would be Aaron’s next move? Is it high time he chose his own freedom over his inmates?

'For Life' airs on Tuesdays on ABC.
