WAVERLY PLACE, NEW YORK: Remember the iconic Disney series, 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Well, it is not back but the famous actor/singer, Selena Gomez who used to play Alex Russo in the series, recently revisited Waverly Place street in New York. Safe to say, fans walked down memory lane with the actress as it brought back a lot of memories for them. While some fans reminisced about the "golden era" of the Disney shows, others appreciated Gomez's Alex Russo's witty humor.

The fantasy teen series aired on Disney for four seasons between 2007 and 2012. It focused on Alex Russo (Gomez), a teenage wizard living in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, who undertakes training alongside her siblings, Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T Austin), who are also equipped with magical abilities. The siblings train to know that one day they will compete to win sole custody of their family's powers. The episodes focus on Alex's challenges in keeping her secret powers hidden while she deals with the social and personal issues of her youth. Although, the main themes depicted include family, friendship, and adolescence; the series also contains fantasy elements.

Selena Gomez recently posted a picture on Instagram where she is seen staring up at the Waverly Place direction board in New York, and captioned it, "Where it all began."

Its series finale was the most-watched final episode of any Disney show. Talking about Gomez, she rose to prominence as a teenager by starring as Alex Russo in the Disney series. It is safe to say that the series was her breakthrough moment. 

However, as of now, Gomez is an owner of a beauty brand called Rare Beauty while she also acts and sings in many other series and sometimes serves as an executive producer for shows like Netflix's '13 Reasons Why,' and Hulu's 'Only Murders in the Building.'
