A fan shared, "CHARLOTTE WELLS DESERVED A SPOT," while another added, "Martin McDonagh I guess but why didn’t James Cameron get the nomination I don’t understand." A fan tweeted, ""Where are the women?" The Oscars don't nominate direction styles such as Aftersun over films such as The Fabelmans, because of how they think of workloads, gender being irrelevant. The other highest-praised films, outside of that, were directed by men. There are only 5 spots." Lastly, a fan commented, "so James Cameron apparently didnt direct Avatar 2 LOL. what an embarrassing list for the academy," while another added, "No Nomination for James Cameron!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous."
