CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Emperor of Ocean Park', a mystery series, debuted its premiere episode on MGM+ on Sunday, July 14, 2024, captivating viewers with its thrilling narrative centered on themes of politics, power, and racism.

It stars Grantham Coleman as Talcott Garland, a law professor grieving the death of his father, Judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whitaker), who embarks on a journey to uncover the truth.

Episode 1 introduces a grey character named Jack Ziegler (Torrey Hanson), whose influence on Judge Garland's life remains shrouded in mystery.

Who is Jack Ziegler in 'Emperor of Ocean Park'?

Jack Ziegler, who is nearly the same age as Judge Garland. Episode 1 suggests that their connection dates back to their college days when they were not only close friends but also roommates.

While Garland pursued a career in law, Jack pursued a path as a CIA operative.

The present-day news report suggests that Jack used his position and resources for personal gain, allegedly involving himself in activities such as money laundering, contract killings, and the illegal sale of firearms.

He is also accused of using the government's secrets to build a fortune for himself.

However, Jack has not been convicted of any of these alleged crimes, as we see him attending Judge Garland's funeral by the end of Episode 1.

Mariah (Tiffany Mack) is convinced that her father didn't die of a heart attack. When she receives a call from Jack soon after Garland's death, she begins to suspect that he might be involved somehow.

She confides in her brother Talcott and expresses her concerns. To support her theory, she even presents an old newspaper clipping mentioning that the CIA had developed a heart attack machine.

At this point, Mariah suspects only Jack. However, the mystery is far from solved, as this is just the beginning of the suspense. The series consists of ten episodes that will follow Talcott and Mariah's journey as they uncover the truth.

Jack might seem like an easy suspect for now but he may not be the one who killed Judge Garland. The Judge was likely involved in some secretive arrangements.

Jack doesn't know the details yet, but whatever the Judge was involved in would surely have benefited him in some way.

His death has only caused chaos in Jack's life as we see him restless and eager to know about the arrangements.

As the season progresses, we hope to discover about other parties who might have benefitted from Judge Garland's death.
