'Dynasty' Season 3 Episode 4 Review: Dominique promises to help Jeff Colby get 'an eye for an eye'
The episode contains spoilers for 'Dynasty' Season 3 Episode 4 'Something Desperate
Are you ready for a musical treat this Halloween? Titled 'Something Desperate', episode four of 'Dynasty' Season 3 is all about that and more. The hour-long special portrays a very different side of the Carrington family as Blake (Grant Show) is feeling back on top of the world. He sings 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' by Tears for Fears towards the beginning of the episode.
Throughout the episode, the characters break into song and dance at the drop of a hat! From 'Against All Odds' by Mariah Carey to 'You Can't Hurry Love' by Phil Collins and 'Burning Down the House' by Talking Heads, the dramatic episode is packed with classic hits. It sure is entertaining but also a tad bit lousy and nonsensical, especially when there's a song right in the middle of a suspenseful note of the plot. The makers, however, have a reason for it. Apparently, Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) is hallucinating and imagining all in her head.
Adam and Cristal's cat-and-mouse game
Blake and Cristal (Daniella Alonso) surprise Adam (Sam Underwood) with some news that doesn’t sit well so Adam attempts to sabotage their plans. However, Cristal figures out he is trying to poke his nose into her guest list and tells Blake to spend some alone time with his son.
Both of them try to convince Blake they are right about his winery and even manage to pull his attention. In the end, however, Cristal gets an upper hand as she attaches a "hummingbird" memorabilia on the wine bottles. Adam catches a moment with Cristal and tells her how Blake "changes wives like he changes companies."
Romeo-Juliet date gone wrong
Fallon is hell-bent on bringing Liam's memory back and convincing she is his soulmate. She tells Sam (Rafael De La Fuente) she is going to break into his house again despite the restraining order. He warns her against it. "Fallon, this is not an '80s movie. You cannot stand outside his house with a boom box or a manuscript." But she doesn't listen. "Music is the purest form of expression," she argues, to which he replies, "And a restraining order is the purest form of stay the hell away." As expected, her plan fails.
However, she has to take action as Liam is getting married that day itself. Later, Fallon manipulates Sam into doing her bidding and he finally manages to hand over the manuscript as her messenger. Towards the end of the episode, a hallucinating Fallon looks across and sees Liam. He comes to meet her without a "wedding ring" but blatantly tells her how "the book didn't make him fall in love" as the girl in the book is "selfish, callous, and definitely a narcissist." Fallon's heart is broken as he hears those words and she sees Liam walking away.
Culhane's partnership with Anders
Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley) brings a business opportunity to Anders (Alan Dale). The latter accepts it and they shake hands. Culhane also meets Kirby who is hopeful that he came to meet her. However, she finds out he was there for a business deal. Towards the end of the episode, Kirby meets Victor and offers him a "proper welcome."
Dominique's masterplan to reconcile with Jeff
Dominique (Michael Michele) tries to reconcile with Jeff (Sam Adegoke) who makes high stakes demand of his mother. "I want to make sure he can never rebuild. Adam and Blake came for my life. Now I am going for theirs. If you're really Team Colby, you'll help me," Jeffs tells his mother. Luckily, she accepts it and lays down her cards with the Carringtons. She first tries to adulterate the wine bottles and later, turns out to be the mastermind behind an explosion that almost takes Adam's eyes. Is Adam going to be blind now?
"Adam hurt you. Isn't that right?" she tells him and says she is going to get "an eye for an eye!" After all the damage he's caused, this is karma at its finest. Dominique gets the better of all. She calls Vanessa (Jade Payton) to tell her that they might get all they have ever wanted.
The musical Halloween special blends the magic of tunes with dark tones of rivalry, pangs of jealousy and an air of enmity. With an explosion, a gas leak, a new business deal and Carrington's mean-spirited foes planning an act of big revenge, the amnesia storyline is getting harder to believe. The makers should bring back Liam's memory once for all and let #Falliam fans breathe a sigh of relief, shouldn't they?
