'Don't mess up': Fans worry as Universal Pictures reveal 'How to Train Your Dragon' live adaptation in works

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has been 13 years since fans were introduced to the world of vikings and dragons in 'How to Train Your Dragon'. However, Toothless and Hiccup are ready to woo you again with their amusing bond but there is a plot twist this time, it is in live-action. The franchise had star studded cast as voice overs for the characters that featured the voices of Jay Baruchel, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kristen Wiig.

Furthermore, the first movie which released in 2010, earned Academy Award nominations for best animated film and best score. The second and third notched best animated film Oscar nominations. Is 'How to Train Your Dragon' being adapted in live-action?

Hiccup belived he could fly and touch the sky and so he did with Toothless. However as per DiscussingFilm, Universal Pictures also think they can do it all over again thus the studio has announced they will be releasing a live-action big screen adaptation of DreamWorks Animation's 'How to Train Your Dragon' in 2025. Dean DeBlois, the filmmaker behind the OG animated trilogy is back in the frontseat as the writer, director and producer. The feature project is already steps into the development process. Universal has dated the feature for a March 14, 2025 release. Regardless, there is no information as of now about the cast of the new film although rumor has it the casting has already begun.

'Faith in the live action remake is higher, but not high'

Fans worry as most films' live adaptation has been an utter failure and they don't want one of their favorite animated franchise to be "messed up". However, they have a shred of hope as the OG filmmaker of 'How to Train Your Dragon,' Dean DeBlois is set to helm the new live action film. A fan said, "Hold up it might be fire actually," while another added, "Okay, so when Dean at the helm, I feel a bit better about it. He was the main creative force as why the dragons franchise was so great. Faith in the live action remake is higher, but not high." A fan tweeted, "Well you got the director of the trilogy doing live action so that's a plus. The trilogy was beautiful and the live action needs to capture that. Make your slight tweaks, but still capture the same magic." A joyful fan shared, "I cant even be mad give me more toothless," while another adds, "The How To Train Your Dragon trilogy is literal perfection! I don’t want Universal & DreamWorks to tarnish this franchise with a Live Action remake! I hope they nail the casting as that will be crucial!" Lastly, a fan wrote, "It has a chance to be good. Safe to say, fans still have some some hope with DeBlois set to helm. Anyhoo, the live-action reboot from Universal Pictures is scheduled to be released on March 14, 2025.
