Did ‘Stranger Things’ really remove scenes? Fans demand to see ‘unreleased cuts’ as thousands sign petition
As the release date for the final episode of 'Stranger Things' is set for Wednesday, December 31, fan anticipation is peaking through the roof. However, the excitement has been followed by growing frustration, with many fans believing that the makers removed some scenes from 'Stranger Things' Volume 1 and Volume 2. Fans' outrage has intensified to the point that thousands of them have signed a petition demanding the release of the deleted scenes.
Many fans took to social media claiming they had "proof" that key scenes, particularly involving Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Will and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and other characters, were cut from 'Stranger Things' to change the story's direction, using an unsourced Google document as the source. Fans on X demanded the release of the scenes, with one commenting, "I dont care what you ship but if you watched vol2 of stranger things season 5 and felt underwhelmed, take a moment to sign this so we can get the unreleased footage !!!!!!!"

A fan shared, "Netflix, the fans have spoken! Those cuts in Stranger Things Vol 2 destroyed the plot and dynamics. Release the uncut files and do right by us!" while another added, "Netflix should consider that jack snyder was forgave for justice league when he released the 4 hours version without cuts... maybe i'm just too hopeful for stranger things." The backlash grew rapidly, with more than 200,000 people signing a Change.org petition demanding the release of scenes from the final season, while others voiced their disappointment with Volumes 1 and 2. Meanwhile, a fan wrote, "NETFLIX'S EDITS, CUTS AND FAST PACING HAS RUINED STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5."
Denying the viral claims about missing scenes in 'Stranger Things', Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke, confirmed that there is no unreleased footage from the show. Addressing the rumors directly on Instagram Stories, Havens wrote, "There's no secret Snyder cut of the show," adding bluntly, "Don't believe everything some random person tells you on the internet," as per Cinema Express.
Notably, 'Stranger Things' Volume 2 ends on a dark cliffhanger, with Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) once again captured by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), along with her classmates, as he plans to "form a new world." Trapped inside Vecna's lair to fulfill his final mission, the children's fate hangs in the balance while the Party must enter the Upside Down one last time in a final effort to stop him.
