BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 viewers have criticized judge Luke Bryan for leaking major spoiler before the official announcement. 'American Idol' Top 3 finalists Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough graced the stage for one more time to deliver a stirring performance during the finale.

Keith Urban, who served as a judge from Seasons 12 to 15, lead the finalists with his mentorship. Tongi has been crowned the coveted title and the prize. However, Luke shared the 'American Idol' Season 21 winner's name even before the key moment premiered on television and the social media users called him out for spoiling the suspense.

Luke Bryan leaks major spoiler

Luke revealed the winner among the final three competitors, Megan, Colin, and Tongi, even before the end of the three-hour-long finale. The singer shared a photo on his Instagram with other judges Lionel Ritchie, Katy Perry, and host Ryan Seacrest as they posed with the winner of Season 21. The ABC star congratulated Iam as he captioned the post, "He’s our 2023 @americanidol." Luke added, "It was an incredible season. Thanks to everyone who helped put on the show. That's a wrap!"

'Thanks for blowing it'

Viewers slammed Luke in the comment section for announcing the highly anticipated moment before the talent competition show aired on the West Coast. A social media user commented, "West Coast is still watching, thanks for blowing it." Another person said, "I wish you waited a while to post, we recorded it and couldn’t watch it quite yet tonight ☹️." Another user noted, "Thanks for ruining it for me! I am in the middle of watching right now! Good night then! 🤦‍♀️." Another viewer wrote, " I'm in Washington State, I'm watching now. Thank's for ruining the ending for me. Glad he Iam won but need to say all 3 having amazing careers ahead of them." Another follower penned, "See! That's why you don’t go on social media until it’s over!" Another Instagram user said, "I probably should have stayed off social media."

Luke Bryan shares sobbing video of Katy Perry

Katy had a breakdown moment during the finale episode and Luke shared a clip on his social media. In the video, Katy cried as she gushed over contestant Iam Tongi's finale performance. The breakdown moment happened after Tongi was voted Season 21's 'American Idol' winner during the finale episode. Katy sobbed in the video and admitted, "I'm still crying." She then yelled "Stop it!" to Luke after she realized she was her was recording her. Katy further said, "Don't take advantage of my sensitive, vulnerable heart!" as tears flowed from her eyes. The pop star then concealed her face with a makeup-covered tissue as she continued to sob. Alongside the video, Luke wrote, "Somebody needs to check on @katyperry after this finale. #idol."



 

'American Idol' Season 22 will return with new contestants between January and March of 2024 during the broadcast television midseason schedule.
