LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A clip from the Oscars 2024 went viral when viewers believed they caught Emma Stone appearing displeased, with host Jimmy Kimmel and lip-reading attempts fueled speculation that she called him a "prick." The moment garnered attention as people tried to decipher what Stone might have said, after the 96th Academy Awards showcased a video montage of Best Picture nominee "Poor Things." Host Jimmy Kimmel quipped that the highlighted scenes were the only ones suitable for television, this jest alluded to the movie's explicit rated-R content, cracking a joke about the movie's content, suggesting it was excessively sexualized and not suitable for television. 

Observing the Oscars, viewers noticed Stone leaning over to chat with her seatmates in response to Kimmel's joke. Stone seemed to say something to her husband, Dave McCary, who responded with laughter. Lip-reading enthusiasts swiftly speculated about her words, and some theorized that she playfully remarked, “He’s a prick,” to Kimmel's statement. 

Stone received a nomination for Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in the film "Poor Things." This movie is one of the most nominated tonight, earning a total of 11 nominations across various categories, including Best Picture, Directing, Writing (Adapted Screenplay), Costume Design, and Cinematography.
