'Dark Matter': Amanda Lucas and Jason Dessen's growing bond hints at further chaos

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), in Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter', is an adorable character. The love he has for his wife, Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly), is something that leaves us in awe.
The series revolves around him trying to return to his beloved wife and son, Charlie (Oakes Fegley) after he is abducted by his alternate self and is transported to a different reality.
When he lands in Reality 2, he meets his colleague, Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga), who is also his love interest.
However, Jason being the ideal husband continues to miss his wife and awaits a reunion. Even when he switches between different realities, his only mission is to be with Daniela.
His grief is evident when he has to end Daniela's miseries by overdosing her with morphine in a reality where humans are dying due to a widespread virus.
Amid his longing and struggle, the one person who sticks by his side is Amanda.
Jason Dessen and Amanda Lucas to grow closer in 'Dark Matter' Episode 6
Amanda is clearly in love with Jason. We can't blame her as she was actually dating Jason 2 in Reality 2 until he disappeared.
It is her love and care for Jason that made her go against Leighton Vance (Dayo Okeniyi). She didn’t even think once about her future before traveling to liminal space with Jason.
Amanda and Jason are trapped in superposition as they have been trying to find Jason's reality. During these adventures, they open up about their past.
As they discuss their fears and insecurities in moments of vulnerability, they are expected to grow closer to each other.
Apple TV+ has hinted at a possible romantic angle between both characters. In the official synopsis for 'Dark Matter' Episode 6, Apple TV+ says, "Daniela suspects something's not right with her husband. Jason and Amanda grow closer."
What's next for Amanda Lucas in 'Dark Matter'?
If Amanda and Jason develop a romantic relationship, it will only escalate the chaos to the existing complications.
Jason is a devoted husband who gave up his bright career as a physicist to raise a family with Daniela. Not even in his distant dreams, he has thought about being with another woman.
We can assume that once he finally returns to his reality, he will choose Daniela over Amanda. However, we as a viewer, are concerned about Amanda's fate.
She certainly can't return to her own reality as she fears for her life. She definitely can't live in Jason's reality as it would only add complications. Meanwhile, in several other realities, we have seen that Amanda is dead. So she certainly can't go there.
At this point, we can only assume that Amanda might lose her life while helping Jason in his fight against his own alternate self. If that happens, it would be truly tragic as she is the most selfless person in the series.
