Blake Crouch has adapted the series from his own novel of the same name. It introduces Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, and Dayo Okeniyi in pivotal roles.
The series revolves around Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a Physics professor, who is abducted by his alternate self and transported to another reality.
The entire series follows his adventures as he tries to return to his original world to reunite with his beloved family and save them from his other self.

Episode 6, titled 'Superposition', will release next Wednesday, June 5, 2024. With a run time of 54 minutes, the episode will stream exclusively on Apple TV+.
What happens in 'Dark Matter' Episode 5?
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 5, Jason Dessen and Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga) continue their adventures in liminal space to locate Jason's original reality. With each attempt, they unravel the functioning of the box.
They realize that they need to align their fears, desires, thoughts, and subconscious mind, all at once, in order to land in the right reality. As they try to control their minds, they inch closer to their desired reality.
From opening the door to the post-apocalypse world to landing in a habitable reality where Daniela is still alive, Jason and Amanda have made real progress. However, they still haven't found Jason's original reality and they decide to continue their journey.
Meanwhile, Jason 2 discovers that Jason has escaped Reality 2 and is trying to find his way back home. The episode ends with him deciding to seal the box forever to stop Jason from opening the door to this reality.
