'Dark Matter' on Apple TV+: Puzzled fans pull up 'infinite OG worlds' theory ahead of finale
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'Dark Matter'
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: If you thought that Jason Dessen's (Joel Edgerton) adventures in 'Dark Matter' would simplify in Episode 8, you couldn't be more wrong.
His multiverse journey gets further entangled as multiple versions of Jason arrive in Reality 1 to reclaim their life from Jason 2.
Throughout Episode 8, we see different versions racing against each other to be with Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly).
Some end up dead, one injured and a version gets himself locked up in a basement. And by the end of the episode, Daniela and Charlie (Oakes Fegley) reunite with one of his OG versions.
Could Jason 1 be in a wrong reality in 'Dark Matter' Episode 8?
Well, the reality depicted in Episode 8 couldn't be a wrong one. This world has Jason 2 who swapped places with Jason 1.
But we can't completely rule out the possibility of some twists here. One theory is that the Jason who gets to be with Daniela and Charlie in Episode 8 climax isn't the OG Jason. However, certain fans have a bizarre feeling that it isn't the OG world too.
It has been established in the series that multiple Jason 1s were created after he was abducted. Every decision that he made after the abduction led to divergent realities with all Jasons trying to return to Daniela.
If we can have multiple Jason 1s, wouldn't it be possible to have multiple Jason 2's as well?
We wouldn't be wrong to assume that alternate realities resembling the OG reality were created where Jason 2 now lives with Daniela and made different choices every day.
A fan took to Reddit and wrote, "I think this isn't the OG world. Too much chaos has happened for it to be the OG world for that happy ending we all yearn for."
Agreeing to this, someone added, "There are infinite OG worlds. The best case scenario for the family would be to use the box to travel to one where no other Jason1s returned, and Jason2, Daniela, and Charlie all fell off a cliff."
"There are many worlds that are almost identical to this original world but imperceptibly different. He got back to a world that’s close enough, but the chance that it’s his exact original is very small," contributed another Reddit user.
Another comment reads, "Technically they could re-make that last episode an infinite number of times since an infinite number of the OG world now exists with Bad Jason, Daniela and Charlie with a bunch of Jason1s playing gladiator."
If that happens, it would be truly a chaotic end to the series.
