'Dark Matter' Episode 8 Takeaway: Only one character can decide OG Jason's fate as epic finale inches closer

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: In Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter', Jason Dessen's (Joel Edgerton) adventures keep on getting complicated as he struggles to reclaim the life that was wrongly snatched from him.
After being abducted by his alternate self in Episode 1, we see him trapped in the multiverse for the next six episodes.
As he finally returns to his OG reality in the climax of Episode 7, viewers eagerly anticipate the epic confrontation and violent altercation between two versions of Jason who both desire the same thing.
However, things take a mind-bending twist in Episode 8 as Jason 1 finds that multiple versions of him were created after the abduction and they all are trying to reunite with Daniela (Jennifer Connelly).
It's a chaotic yet intriguing twist, leaving fans to wonder which Jason they shall root for!
Has Daniela Dessen reunited with the OG version of Jason?
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 8, a version of Jason (probably the OG Jason 1) manages to get in touch with Daniela Dessen. He gets himself arrested to call her to bail him out.
As they meet, Jason explains everything that happened to him and also convinces her that the man she has been living with is not her real Jason.
Jason also warns her that there are multiple versions of him trying to get to her. Therefore, they decide on a code word for Daniela to use to identify him among the others.
Upon reaching home, she locks Jason 2 in the basement and takes Charlie (Oakes Fegley) with her.
On their way, they meet a version of Jason who tells Daniela about his abduction and journey to another reality. She soon realizes that this Jason is not the same one she met at the police station.
As their car meets with an accident, Daniela and Charlie escape again and finally meet Jason 1 at their agreed-upon meeting place.
This time, Daniela asks for the code word and this Jason knows it, indicating that Daniela may have finally reunited with her Jason.
However, at this point, it would be too early to reach this conclusion. We know that many versions of Jason were created after the abduction, and their primary goal is to return to Reality 1.
Therefore, we don’t yet know if the Jason whom Daniela met at the police station is the OG Jason 1 or Jason 1.2 or 1.3.
Why Daniela Dessen could be the one deciding Jason's fate in 'Dark Matter'
If there were only two Jasons, it would have been relatively easy for Daniela to determine which one was hers, as Jason 2 wasn't married to her and knew nothing about Daniela and Jason 1's 15-year marriage.
However, since the new versions of Jason were married to Daniela, it would be so hard for her to decide which Jason to be with.
In Episode 8, she decides to be with the Jason who met her first and told her the truth.
The other version of Jason 1, who met Daniela on the road, lost his chance because Daniela chose to trust the Jason she met at the police station.
Both the Jasons weren't wrong, yet all the other Jasons would be imposters for her and she will have to choose only one among them.
It leaves us at a cliffhanger, wondering which Jason will eventually get to be with Daniela and what would happen to the rest of the versions of Jason who were equally wronged by Jason 2 and deserve a reunion.
'Dark Matter' will conclude with Episode 9, scheduled to stream on June 26, 2024, exclusively on Apple TV+.
