'Dare Me' brings back 'Friday Night Lights' with promises of fierce competition highlighted by the need for dominance and the preservation of audacious egos. The series is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Megan Abbott and is executive produced by Gina Fattore and Peter Berg.

A cheerleading squad is given an opportunity to make their small town of Sutton Grove proud by shining the spotlight on their talent. In hopes to make it to the regionals, they are to follow the orders of coach Colette French (Willa Fitzgerald) who teaches elite members secrecy and loyalty more than she does forms and flips.

This week, the much-anticipated Episode 6, titled 'Code Red' did not air because the Super Bowl took the limelight, but is set to air on February 9, 2020, following regular scheduling. What do we know so far and what are we to expect from the latter part of the 10-episode thriller series?

Episode 5 titled 'Parallel Trenches' had viewers see the perspective of Colette,  Beth Cassidy (Marlo Kelly), and Addy Hanlon (Herizen F Guardiola) as they try to decipher and recuperate from a wild party with the marines at the Playland Motel. After Addy brings Beth to Colette's home, we see a side to Colette that we knew was there all along yet she hid it well. Colette, who was hoping to stay off the radar unless it was about how her squad is in "perfect form" has already made herself enemies and one friend.

Taking advantage of insecurities and vulnerabilities, she managed to befriend Beth's "lover" infuriating Beth and manipulating Addy to keep her secrets. As an adult woman trying to relive her teenage years, Colette is in a hot and heavy affair with Sarge Will Mosley (Zach Roerig) and gets caught by Addy and Beth. Not privy to the fact that Beth has ammunition to take her town with a video of her and Will fondling in a car, she decides to turn to Addy to help keep the waters still. There bloomed a one-sided friendship, with Colette taking Addy on dates with Will, assuring her that she'd walk out of Beth's shadow as pyramid top girl and allowing Addy to babysit her daughter while she keeps her tantalizing affair alive.

So, it would make sense that after the marine party, when Addy was faced with a drunk and possibly drugged Beth, she took her to Colette's house but the trusting coach was not a fan of the idea. In Episode 5, we are taken the story three times, through Addy, Collete and Beth’s perspectives. With this episode focusing on Beth's incident with Kurtz during a rather obnoxious party with the marines, the mental trauma at play in 'Dare Me' has become a battle of wits.

From what has been portrayed so far on the series, we can see that the relationship that Colette has built with Addy is unhealthy and we suspect that it might lead to more than just tumbling of pyramids. With Beth reeling from a sexual assault and unable to confide in Addy because she's preoccupied with an affair that isn't hers, we wonder how far Beth might go especially since she's already spiraling downward. It seems as though Colette has a lot more up her sleeve, and Addy somehow fits into her pre-meditated plan, but we're hoping that Beth heals from what she went through without the use of guns, intense bullying and drugs.

'Dare Me' airs Sundays at 10 pm EST on the USA Network.
