The highly-anticipated 2021 Golden Globes kicked off with much enthusiasm as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned to host the annual awards show for the fourth time — this year, remotely from separate coasts. Fey was recorded live in New York and Poehler in California.

The viewers waited anxiously for the presenters to announce the winner in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role — Motion Picture and it was Daniel Kaluuya who took home the prestigious trophy for his role in the 'Judas and the Black Messiah'.

‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ (HBO Max)

The star was up against the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen ('The Trial of the Chicago 7', Jared Leto ('The Little Things'), Bill Murry ('On The Rocks') and Leslie Odom, Jr. ('One Night in Miami') in the category.

His fans shared their excitement by flooding the social media with congratulatory messages and did not hold back in labeling him one of the best actors in the industry right now. One of the users wrote: "Daniel Kaluuya is just actually too charming it's not right." Meanwhile, there were others who thought Kaluuya should win the Oscars as well. "DANIEL KALUUYA ON HIS WAY TO AN OSCAR THAT’S WHAT WE WANT TO SEE!!!" another user said. One user said, "Daniel Kaluuya won best supporting actor at the Golden Globes I hope this man gets the Oscar he truly deserves".

"I know the Globes mean nothing, but it would be awesome if Daniel Kaluuya’s win was a sign that he’ll be nominated for and win the Oscar. As Fred Hampton, he crushes it," another user added. Another user wrote: I will never get tired of saying how incredible Daniel Kaluuya’s performance in Judas and the Black Messiah was. So deserving of the win. The 78th Golden Globes were handed out in a virtual ceremony that was telecasted on February 28 at 8 pm ET and the pre-show was streamed live to the entire world from the official Twitter account of @GoldenGlobes and on the website goldenglobes.com at 6.30 pm ET.
