The 78th edition of the Golden Globe Awards was held amid much fanfare on Sunday, February 28. This is the first time the award show was held virtually as the nominees could not be in the same room due to the Covid-19 protocols. Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the ceremony from two different locations, marking the first bi-coastal event in the show's history. Fey hosted the ceremony from New York City's Rainbow Room while Poehler was present at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. 

The 'Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role In Any Motion Picture' was a category everyone was looking forward to. The award came in the latter half of the show. Let us find out more about winner Jodie Foster and see what Twitter has got to say about it.

Who is the winner?

The award for Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role In Any Motion Picture was awarded to Jodie Foster for 'The Mauritanian'. The other nominations for the category included Glenn Close for 'Hillbilly Elegy', Amanda Seyfried for 'Mank', Helena Zengel for 'News of the World' and Olivia Colman for 'The Father'.

In the end, it was Foster's moving performance as Nancy Hollander in 'The Mauritaninan' that earned the prestigious honor. This is the seventh nomination Jodie Foster at the Golden Globes and her fourth win. The award was presented by Jamie Lee Curtis looking resplendent in a yellow gown.  
 
Jodie Foster accepted the award from the comfort of her home, looking cozy on a couch with her wife Alexandra Hedison and pet dog. She thanked her cast and crew of the movie as well as HFPA for honoring her with the award.

Social media users loved Jodie Foster appearing at the award show in pyjamas and with her wife and pet. "The best thing about #GoldenGlobes at home are the kids and loved ones and pets, especially the sudden in-vision cries and hugs when someone wins. And Jodie Foster and wife Alex in pajamas..." writes one user. 



 

"#GoldenGlobes More Christopher Meloni and more of Jodie Foster's dog please!" one user said. "Now I would like very much to see Jodie Foster in a Wes Anderson motion picture." said another user. "Were Jodie Foster and her wife in PJ's? They looked really comfy and much better than Rosamunde Pilcher's dress (which I really didn't care for). #GoldenGlobes" - tweeted another.



 



 



 

The official 2021 Golden Globe Awards was telecast on February 28 at 8 pm ET and the pre-show was streamed live from the official @GoldenGlobes Twitter account and on the website goldenglobes.com at 6.30 pm ET.
