'Dancing With The Stars': Nelly's performance branded 'dull', fans wonder if the 21 points were for his outfit

Nelly's performance earned him 7 points across the board but fans questioned the judges' decision and were certain that this was not a breakout performance

Nelly kicked off this week's episode of 'Dancing With the Stars'. He did the Pasodoble to 'All I Do Is Win' by DJ Khaled. During rehearsals, he and his coach, pro-dancer Daniella Karagach, were discussing what to do in order to give the judges what they want. After his last week's performance, Carrie Ann Inaba had mentioned that the rapper has improved quite a lot in terms of his dancing abilities and that she now wanted to see a breakout dance from him.

Daniella was very determined that she wanted to make it happen for Nelly with the next performance and she was ready to push Nelly out of his comfort zone and make him dance a little more. Nelly did get nervous when Daniella mentioned the 'more dancing' bit, but they made it happen in the end and the judges' comments and scores just validated all the hard work that the dancing pair put in.

Bruno Tonioli told Nelly that he got the power in his dancing but he could've done better with the shaping. Carrie said that she does think this was a breakout performance, the musicality worked. Even though the shaping still requires work and softening the angles could have made the performance better, she was still happy with what she saw and so was judge Derek Hough. Each of them scored Nelly and Daniella a 7/10, however, the audiences watching from home couldn't believe why he was scored that high by the judges and couldn't see all the greatness in the performance at all. Here are a couple of reactions.

"Maybe if your take off them damn Jordan’s you probably can move a little smoother #DWTS," wrote a fan. "#DWTS I’m sorry but Nelly was STIFF and didn’t deserve 7’s but lemme hush," wrote another. A fan tweeted, "Nelly didn’t deserve a 21 #DWTS." Another wrote, "Nelly wants to be sent home so badly lol #DWTS." Another tweet read, "That dance was dull... what are they talking about #DWTS." Another tweet read, "Nelly was not a breakout dance. They must be judging outfits and attractiveness. That was not a 7 performance #dwts #DancingWiththeStars."
