It doesn’t look like the Covid-19 outbreak in K-pop will be slowing down anytime soon. In the second week of February, we had 26 idols testing positive. Almost all of the members of 2AM and Cravity fell sick. 10 idols had tested positive on February 12 itself. And now again we have 10 idols getting Covid-19 in the last 24 hours including all of Tempest.

On February 14, it was previously reported that CNBLUE’s Yonghwa, Itzy’s Lia and Kindgom’s Dann had tested positive. Well, with the social distancing guidelines not being too strict as the new Omicron wave isn’t considered lethal yet, we have all of the members of rookie boy group Tempest testing positive days before their debut. In the new year, several agencies announced that we would be getting a rush of new K-pop groups debuting in the first half of 2022. Unfortunately, some of their plans have been hindered due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Tempest gets Covid-19 before their debut date

Last week, four members of the upcoming K-pop boy group BLANK2Y had tested positive. And on February 14, it was reported that all seven members of Tempest tested positive for Covid-19. They were supposed to debut on February 21 with their first mini-album ‘It’s Me, It’s We’. Unfortunately, their label, Yuehua Entertainment shared that one of their external staff members had gotten Covid-19 on February 13. All of the members took rapid antigen tests which came positive following which they took a PCR test.

Tempest’s seven members – Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan, Hwarang, LEW, Hyuk and Tarae’s PCR tests came back positive on February 14. They have all taken their second dose of vaccine and hence only have a mild fever and cold symptoms. All of the members are being home quarantined and their schedules have been halted. Tempest was supposed to debut with the release of their first album in February, but for now, it has been postponed to March 2 at 6 pm KST (4 am ET).

Yuehua's new boy group Tempest

Tempest is a multi-national K-pop group handled by Yuehua Entertainment. We have members like Hanbin who is a Vietnamese artist who had participated in Enhypen’s survival show ‘I-Land’ while Hyeongseop and LEW are idol actors who were on ‘Produce 101’ that formed Wanna One. Yuehua Entertainment is a Chinese label that manages multi-national groups like UNIQ that has members like Chinese idol actor Yibo and soloist Woodz, WJSN aka Starship Entertainment’s Cosmic Girls and Everglow.

On the release of the news, shocked Tempest fans made tweets like, “Bro I'm too stunned to speak rn,” “ As much as we're excited for TEMPEST's debut, pls do give them enough time to recover. We've been waiting for yrs & waiting for few more wks is not a problem. Pls make sure they are fully recovered before any promotion. Thank you and I wish the boys and the staff get well soon,” and “Pls get enough rest , it's your health that matters the most . praying for fast recovery , and everyone pls stay safe too !”
