Covid in K-pop: Astro's Sanha sick second time in 2 months, fans say 'rest well'
It seems that the Omicron outbreak that began in mid-January seems to be slowing down now. There were over 60 cases in January followed by a whopping 120 cases in February in the K-pop industry. It started affecting important gigs like Blackpink Rosé’s Paris Fashion Week schedule, Loona’s performance in ‘Queendom 2’ while Tempest and NMIXX had to postpone their debut. But in March, the cases fell down to 103 and are gradually reducing in April.
While tons of idols were testing positive for Covid-19 in just a day in the past months, this month has been better. In April, we saw idols like SF9’s Taeyang, Red Velvet’s Wendy, Laboum’s Haein, Monsta X’s Jooheon, Mamamoo’s Moonbyul, Winner’s Yoon, NMIXX’s Haewon, Rocket Punch’s Suyun and Yunkyoung, Highlight’s Kikwang, Seventeen’s Jeonghan and 2PM’s Jun.K over the span of four weeks. However, fans were disheartened when Astro’s youngest member, Sanha ended up getting Covid-19 once again.

Sanha gets Covid-19 twice
It was announced that Sanha had taken a self-test for Covid-19 on April 22 since he was not feeling well. The test came back negative but since his symptoms continued he took a rapid antigen test that has come back positive on April 23. Astro’s label, Fantagio shared that Sanha has no extraordinary symptoms except for mild cold and is in quarantine. Five other people who had come in close contact immediately took tests that have come back negative. Since Astro is currently preparing for their comeback, fans think it is the five remaining members.
In the meantime, Sanha’s schedule has been halted. He was supposed to attend an online fansign for the release of his and Moonbin’s second mini-album ‘Refuge' on April 23 and 24 but it has been postponed. This is the second time that Sanha has tested negative right before a comeback. Moonbin and Sanha were preparing for ‘Refuge’ when they were diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 7. Their promotional activities as well as Astro’s fan meeting had been postponed.
'Get well soon'
Fans are sending well wishes to Sanha as they made tweets like, “Fortunately Sanha is only experiencing mild cold symptoms (like previously). Hope he will rest well and recover soon 🥺 let’s send him lots of warm get-well-soon wishes.” Another Aroha posted, “Get well soon, sanha fast & healthy recover for sanha.” One added, “Our baby tested positive again 😮Thankfully it's just some mild cold symptoms 🥺 get well soon , rest well boys.” Another shared, “Not sanha testing positive again.” One fan was angry, “Not when Fantagio made SanHa sleep 2-3 hrs during promotions and filming. Get my Sanha out of that d*mb Company.”
