Hulu is all set to launch a new sports drama, 'Clipped', on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, which is based on Ramona Shelburne's 'The Sterling Affairs.'
Created by Gina Welch, the series revolves around the historic phone call in which former San Diego / Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling made racial statements.
The show will focus on the uproar from the call recording leak and how it affected the basketball world.
What is the plot of 'Clipped'?
The series delves into the events preceding and following the leak of a recording in which Donald Sterling (Ed O'Neill) makes racial slurs on a phone call with his girlfriend, V. Stiviano (Cleopatra Coleman). This caused an uproar and public outcry, prompting the NBA to take action.
The show will also reveal how Doc Rivers (Laurence Fishburne), the team's head coach at the time, dealt with the scandal while leading his squad.

Laurence Fishburne
Laurence Fishburne, a well-known American actor, is expected to play Doc Rivers in the show. The 62-year-old actor, known for his portrayal of powerful, complicated characters, has won an Emmy Award for his versatile acting chops.

Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1947 as Jacqueline Ruth Weaver, the actress rose to prominence in the 1971 after making her debut with 'Stork' for which she earned her first Australian Film Institute Award.
She rose to fame in Ozploitation films such as 'Stork' and 'Alvin Purple', demonstrating her bravery and willingness to play unorthodox characters.
Her performances in 'Animal Kingdom' won her Academy Award nominations and firmly establishied her place on the international scene.
