‘Ishura’, the highly anticipated action anime, is all set to premiere globally on Wednesday, January 3, at 6.30 am PT. The trailer was released by Kadokawa on its official YouTube channel on December 26 and anime fans have been eagerly waiting for its premiere since then.

‘Ishura’ is based on a battle fantasy light novel series penned by Keiso and beautifully illustrated by Kureta, with eight volumes being released by October 2023.

In addition to the broadcast specifics, it was revealed that the anime will have a worldwide release exclusively on DisneyPlus, making it the sole streaming platform to feature 'Ishura' in its catalog.

What is the plot of ‘Ishura’?

‘Ishura’, the dark fantasy anime is set in a world shaken by the death of a demon king, leaving behind a bunch of demigods competing for dominance.

It’s a quest to find the ‘True Hero’, the one who has unique powers to take out his enemies swiftly, a master of legendary weapons, a seasoned assassin, and the one who can stare at death in the eye and mark his victory.

The series showcases a powerful battle between the demigods to witness the victory of the mightiest of them all.

The official synopsis for 'Ishura' reads, "A group of superhuman warriors who once fought together to end the reign of a demon king, now fight each other to see who is the strongest warrior."

Yuki Kaji, the acclaimed Japanese actor and singer associated with the VIMS agency, gained recognition as part of G.Addict, a four-unit singing group in the Goulart Knights project.

Notably, he starred as the main protagonist in the film 'Kami Voice: The Voice Makes a Miracle', earning him the Best Rookie Actor Award at the 3rd Seiyu Awards.
