SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: It seems that along with fans even the idols are tired of their labels mismanaging their schedules. Just a couple of days ago, Red Velvet’s fans asked for better treatment after SM Entertainment’s latest decision had everyone claiming that they preferred their boy groups to their girl groups. Red Velvet’s concert was canceled due to Covid-19 and never rescheduled. However, NCT Dream’s concert which was canceled for the same reason was rescheduled at an ever bigger concert venue – the Olympic Stadium with 70k seating capacity. This led to Seulgi sharing her frustrations with Red Velvet fans.

Along with Seulgi, Chungha was the next idol to voice her concerns and slam her label for alleged mistreatment. While fans have no problem protesting and asking for fair treatment, idols usually stay silent due to their contract or fear of being blacklisted by their label. But that doesn’t seem to be the case for Chungha as the soloist too went live on the same day to talk to fans and called out her label MNH Entertainment for not handling her schedules well.

Chungha says she wants to leave her label

Despite having hit singles like ‘Gotta Go’ and ‘Snapping’, and being part of the girl group I.O.I, Chungha’s comebacks have been infrequent. And during her latest comeback, the bare minimum of promotions had fans upset. Chungha finally dropped her second studio album ‘Bare & Rare’ on July 11, but the promotional period ended quickly. We are getting more Chungha, however, as she was roped in for MiK Festival in London along with Red Velvet, HallyuPopFest in Sydney and the ‘Head in the Clouds’ concert. But despite being a popular idol, we are yet to get a solo concert or world tour.

Well, on August 14, when Chungha went on VLive after the HallyuPopFest, a fan commented, “World tour for Queen Chungha.” The idol replied, “It’s on my bucket list. I want to do it too. Why aren’t you taking care of me, MNH?” Then, another fan jokingly left the comment, “Leave the company.” Chungha replied, “I want to leave,” before laughing. She then added, “Please let me go,” before looking shocked, “Am I allowed to say this?” The idol then says, “I take that back.” The clip has now gone viral on TikTok as fans commended her bravery for speaking up, “Chungha is so real for this . how many idols would ever be brave enough to say these LIVE.”

Seulgi tells fans to blame SM

Similarly, Red Velvet’s Seulgi was also tired of her label as she spoke about their canceled concert. On the same day, on August 14, the idol went online to chat with fans with some asking her for an update on the ‘ReVe Festival’ concert which would have been their first solo offline concert in 2 years in South Korea. After 3 of the members got Covid-19, it got canceled. Well, while talking about the ensemble concert SMTOWN Live with all SM artists, a fan asked about Red Velvet’s next solo concert.

To this, Seulgi replied, “Everything didn't work out as planned ㅠㅠ and it isn't the fault of anyone in particular... *sob* ㅠ we're all waiting for it with the same feelings…I want to rent a concert venue whenever I please! however that's not how things work…” She then assured fans that while SM did not announce it, their concert was simply postponed and they were working on a new version of the concert. Seulgi added, “As this plan did not go as intended, we changed our plans: Let's make a concert of an even higher quality!"

Seulgi also seemingly addressed the promise Joy had made that Red Velvet would make a comeback for every season which means that we could have gotten four comebacks in 2022. She said, “I agree there are very many regrettable/unfortunate circumstances for our ReVeluvs who had been waiting, I'm sorry too…No, I think you can blame (SM)!! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It isn't your fault that you waited, right..? There wasn't even an explanation for the situation…I think even I would say something if I was frustrated!! Aysh…How... shall we curse together..?"

Seulgi also understood her label’s point of view and explained, “But I'm... kind of fond of the company... is it alright..? Do I let things slide too much????? It's frustrating, but when I listen to the explanation it's like 'Oh. Yeah that could happen..' 'It must be hard on their end too...' That's what I think.”

‘My new source of entertainment’

Fans made tweets like, “Chungha openly complaining about MNH's mistreatment and poor management is a sign things are really bad... She used to defend them in the past and tell us to not be harsh with them, but now she's so vocal about everything and even said she wants to leave. It's not good at all :/.” One fan wrote, “Chungha 🤝 seulgi.” A Red Velvet fan joked, “Queen has given her consent for luvies to drag SM.”

Another added, “Feel bad for seulgi seriously, she always seemed to have a hopeful view of sm but that company really mistreats rv. what's even more annoying is that they are grasping so hard for western clout but keeps ignoring the group with the type of music that can actually cross-over–.” A Chungha fan shared, “Chungha dragging mnh’s ass every opportunity she gets is my new source of entertainment.”
