'Chicago Med' Season 5 Episode 7: Student doctor Elsa grows on fans as her attempt to ask Will Halstead on a date fails

Throughout the episode, Elsa kept trying to get her shot with Will. First, she asks him if he's heard that Fibonacci is performing that night -- Will gets confused about a 1000-year old mathematician performing when Elsa mentions that it is a rock band.

In last week's episode of 'Chicago Med', we see Dr. Natalie Manning being a little too harsh on the 4th-year medical student, Elsa Curry, as the latter seemed to lack empathy with the patients. Following that, at Dr. Crockett Marcel's party, Elsa and Dr. Will Halstead seemed to get on friendly terms as she explained to him how to go about a crawfish boil.

In this week's episode of 'Chicago Med', Elsa and Will work on Lori, a patient who has recently had a kidney transplant. The doctors deduce that Lori has a clot in her kidney, though they need to do a CT scan to determine where the clot is. When the parents inform Will that Lori is allergic to the contrast solution, Will tells them that by having her on steroids it might be possible -- though Elsa is doubtful. When it becomes clear that the CT is absolutely necessary so the doctors are able to remove the clot, the parents finally consent and thankfully the whole procedure goes well enough.

Throughout the episode, Elsa kept trying to get her shot with Will. First, she asks him if he's heard that Fibonacci is performing that night -- Will gets confused about a 1000-year old mathematician performing when Elsa mentions that it is a rock band. Will thinks that Elsa mentioned the band's performance to get off work early. However, she perseveres and gets tickets. Just as she gets ready to properly ask him, Will leaves for his night with Juliet, a paramedic he is now seeing.

Fans are feeling bad for Elsa who did not even get the opportunity to ask him out definitively. One fan tweeted, "Hey, Elsa, if you're gonna strike out, at least you swung for the fences. #ChicagoMed."

But the character is certainly growing on fans as another viewer tweeted, "Elsa is so adorably awkward trying to ask Will out for a date. #ChicagoMed."

'Chicago Med' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights. The mid-season finale of Season 5 of 'Chicago Med' will air next Wednesday, on November 20th.
