Spoilers for 'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 7 'Dead of Winter'

Watching the romances on 'Chicago Fire' may take us back to high school days, but now we're just frustrated. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie Brett's (Kara Killmer) romance has been on a standstill for a while now, and we're frankly over it. Since they kissed, we've been waiting on so much more to happen between them, but of course, we've got nada. Instead, the series pushed for new romantic interests for both of them — a woman named Sydney for Casey and lieutenant Greg Grainger for Brett. Just when we thought that Brett would finally move on from Casey, 'Dead of Winter' brings us back to square one.

Grainger is 100 percent interested in Brett, but she only seems to have eyes for Casey, who frankly, we think, isn't ready for a relationship or at least a committed one. This new episode saw Brett pretend to be clueless as Grainger so outwardly hit on her. In fact, while they were each out for drinks, she turned him down quite quickly telling him that though she's flattered she'd rather be single because 'she is cursed' when it comes to men. While we've always loved Brett, we and many fans think that it's time she moved on — that will either bring Casey to her or push him away — either one would be an actual resolution compared to this dreaded back and forth. Now with her turning down Grainger, we're back to wondering if Casey and she will be a thing. Either way, fans were disappointed.
