'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 2: Brett 'friendzones' Casey, fans say they look like siblings anyway

'Trying to decide if I want to give #ChicagoFire a go this season. I literally cannot with the whole Brett & Casey thing - my dawsey heart cannot,' said a fan

The premiere of 'Chicago Fire' ended on a cliffhanger. In the previous episode, we saw Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Gianna (Adriyan Rae) being shot at by the man, who they had tried to help earlier, and both their cars fell off a bridge. At the beginning of the episode, both are injured but conscious and struggle to get out of the ambulance. Casey (Jesse Spencer) rushed to them, and like a superhero jumps out of the moving truck to run to the ambulance. Brett gets out and helps Mackey out of the ambulance, just as Casey reaches them. Brett being Brett, decides to go and save the man who tried to kill her.

Nevertheless, that's not what fans are discussing. They're still trying to weigh the pros and cons of Brett and Casey as a couple, and many of them just don't see it happening. "Trying to decide if I want to give #ChicagoFire a go this season. I literally cannot with the whole Brett & Casey thing - my dawsey heart cannot," a fan tweeted. "Idk guys, I just can’t get with this Casey and Brett ship. They look like siblings #ChicagoFire," another fan wrote. Some viewers have called it 'painful' and uncomfortable to watch. "Brett Casey this is uncomfortable to watch or should I say painful. #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote.

However, it seems like Brett and Casey listened to these fans because Brett just put Casey in the friendzone. "Brett/Casey just don't have chemistry. It's awkward. I don't understand why people want this to happen. #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote. There are also some optimistic ones who want them to get together. "'It's always been you'. Casey and Brett are legit perfect for one another. #OneChicago #ChicagoFire," a fan wrote.

Meanwhile, it has been Gianna Mackey's first day at Firehouse 51 and she has already dealt with a man putting a gun to her head as well as being run off a bridge. Fans are hoping that something might brew between her and Joe Gallo, because the firefighter profession is the one with the most steamy romances.

'Chicago Fire' airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm on NBC.
