'Cherish the Day' Episode 4: Evan pops the big question but will Gently's trust issues play spoilsport?

In the last episode of 'Cherish the Day', we picked up on Evan Fisher and Gently James three months into their relationships. They were still just getting comfortable with sharing deeper things about each other, but you could see they were starting to fall in love.
The episode featured Evan's mother telling him that she does not approve of Gently and Evan angrily reprimanding his mother for it. Gently walks in on this but Evan runs after her. All's well that ends well as Evan and Gently confess that they love each other.
This week's episode picks up a year into their relationship and Evan is ready to pop the big question. He goes around to Ben's house and asks Ben and Gently's uncles' permission to marry her. Evan has even schemed with Gently's employer, Miss Luma Lee, to carry out the events of the day.
When Evan shows up at Miss Luma's house later that day, he tells Gently that he wants a day out. Miss Luma conveniently gives Gently the rest of the day off, telling the latter that she is hanging out with a friend.
Evan whisks Gently away on an adventure — they check in at a fancy hotel and then go hiking. When Gently momentarily wanders off, Evan is worried to no end. Later, when they get ready for dinner, Gently searches for and finds the ring Evan hid among his clothes. But instead of looking happy as we might have expected, she looks worried.
At dinner that evening, Evan proposes to Gently and she says yes. However, she later tells him that she felt pressured to do so because they were surrounded by people. Gently tells him that she is not ready to get married and returns his ring. Angered, Evan sells the ring.
Later that night, Gently cries as she speaks to Ben. She knows she wants to be with Evan but she was not able to say yes to his proposal and she doesn't know why. Ben then tells her that it's been hard for Gently to trust people and tells her to let "this s**t go". He tells her to make room for Evan.
In the classic romantic movie moment, Gently goes running to Evan and tells him that she made a mistake because she got scared. She tells him that his love is turning her into something new and then she asks him to marry her.
But Evan doesn't think Ben and her uncles will appreciate that, and so he proposes to her again. This time Gently responds with a big yes.
It was easy to see how much more at ease Gently and Evan were with each other. They were effortlessly in sync — as one would expect one year into a relationship. It was more heartwarming to see how Gently was able to tear down her walls and take Ben's advice and doing something that most definitely terrified her.
