'Charmed' season 2: Release date, plot, cast, and everything you need to know about The CW's reboot of the supernatural drama
The original 'Charmed' ran for eight seasons from 1998 until 2006 on The CW's parent network The WB. Starring Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano, the show was beloved by many. When The CW announced the reboot for 'Charmed' in 2018, not many were pleased. But over its 22-episode first season, the show managed to gather fans from across the country. In January 2019, the show was renewed for a second season by The CW. Here are all the details on the second installment of the supernatural drama.
Release date
The second season of the reboot series will premiere on The CW on October 11, 2019.
Plot
As in the original, the reboot of 'Charmed' follows three sisters who have the 'Power of three'. Mel and Maggie Vera are two sisters who lose their mother in the premiere episode of the first season. Shortly after, they meet Macy Vaughn who is their older sister and this activates the 'Power of Three'. With their magical powers activated, the three sisters then meet Harry, their Whitelighter who guides and trains the sisters as they face malevolent forces. In season 1, the big bad was the demon Alastair Caine who was also the CEO of Morningstar Biotech where Macy works. Alastair's mission was to turn his youngest half-demon son, Parker into the 'Source of All Evil'. This is thwarted when Macy takes on the Source herself. Eventually, after much struggle, Macy gives up her powers.
By the end of the first season, the Elders (the highly placed witches who control and oversee everything in the magical community) are no more and so much of the magical community look at the Charmed ones for their guidance. The second season will lean harder into the supernatural storylines rather than the family dynamic of the first season.
