LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Celebrity IOU’ returned with another moving episode where a Hollywood A-list celebrity cracks open their toolbox to gift a dear friend, relative, or mentor a fabulous home renovation. This time, it was the TV actress and director Cheryl Hines’ who donned her renovator’s hat to gift her good old friend and former assistant and nanny a surprise garage remodel.

The ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ star has known her ex-assistant Sarita Williams for over two decades and wanted to thank her for all her kindness over the past 20 years. Cheryl and Sarita first met when the actress was looking for a personal assistant. Once she hired Sarita, the two soon developed a strong bond which turned into a lifelong friendship. When Cheryl realized she was expecting her first child, she asked Sarita if she would be her nanny. Getting emotional while explaining the story, the actress also admitted that Sarita had helped her out plenty with her daughter Catherine Rose Young. So to give back to her loving friend, Cheryl enlisted the help of Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott to help renovate Sarita’s garage.

The ‘RV’ star also admitted that Catherine developed into a brilliant young woman due to Sarita’s influence. Holding back tears while telling the ‘Property Brothers’ twins about her former assistant’s time as her nanny, Cheryl also said that Sarita “taught Catherine so much.” She added, “As a parent, the only thing that matters really is that you’re raising your child to be the best person they can be, and Sarita knows that, and she knew that then.” So naturally, Cheryl wanted to gift Sarita the best surprise renovation she could and asked Jonathan and Drew to make it as sleek and sexy as possible.

But the makeover was quite the task initially for the ‘Serious Moonlight’ director as the trio discovered that Sarita’s old garage was a rundown hellscape. The detached garage of her former nanny had rotting wood, broken floors, mold, and even little critters living in the cracks and crevices. The rundown garage also served as a storage space for Sarita and her family and had all kinds of old and broken objects lying around.

While initially scared and hesitant, Cheryl braved her fears and helped the Scott brothers to demolish the old structure. The trio then planned a modern and sophisticated renovation to turn the rundown garage into a sleek workspace and meditation area. To accomplish that, the team changed the entire layout of the garage and added an elegant kitchenette with a “sexy” black counter as per Cheryl’s demands.

Gold accents to the kitchenette and acrylic handles gave off a glass-like look for the drawers. They also added a modern bathroom and a walk-in closet with lit-up shelves. Johnathan and Scott even transformed part of the driveway connected to the garage into a lounge area with a fire pit.

But the highlight of the renovation was the study/work space area that Cheryl ensured to include. Since Sarita and her husband Andrew Williams work remotely from home, the actress wanted the two to have an aesthetic space for work. She even got Sarita’s children’s drawings transferred onto glass frames for the area.
