HGTV is coming up with a new series 'Celebrity IOU' that promises hope, inspiration and heartwarming home renovations that are sure to make viewers well up. Read on to know more.

Release date

The show premieres on April 13, Monday, at 8/9 c.

Plot

Each episode will revolve around A-listers who will surprise people in their life by gifting them with home renovations. In a nutshell, it would be the celebrity's way of thanking an individual who has deeply impacted his/ her life. The hosts of the show — Jonathan and Drew Scott — will help celebrities create a design plan, and deliver a customized space as per their taste and that too under tight deadlines. It's star-studded and laced with some good, good design, what else do we need?

Cast

This season features Brad Pitt, Melissa McCarthy, Viola Davis, Rebel Wilson, Jeremy Renner and Michael Buble.

Interestingly, 'Celebrity IOU' opens with Brad's episode, wherein he recruits the brothers to help him gift a renovated garage to his makeup artist-friend of 30 years. By the end of the episode, her 400-square-foot unit will be transformed into a guest suite that's complete with a makeup station and storage area.

Melissa, on the other hand, works with the hosts to get her aunt a special area, using which she can entertain guests and cook at the same time.

“It’s amazing to see someone who is extremely successful be grounded enough to always remember the people who helped them get there," Jonathan told HGTV while Drew said: “Being a part of this show really hits home for us. This is what we love to do, transforming people’s lives through their homes.”

Jane Latman, President, HGTV, is glad that the human connection in their shows seems to be working well for the channel and its viewers. "The wonderful thing about Celebrity IOU is that it is about personal acts of kindness and thanks. We all want to find ways to help the people who are always there for us when we need them," he shared.
