'Canada's Drag Race': Release date, cast, judges, trailer and all you need to know about Canadian version of the hit drag series

The Canadian iteration of the highly popular series is all set to come to the US and promises to be just as entertaining and wild as ever

The American and United Kingdom version of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' which first started airing in 2009 has helped put the spotlight on the subculture with millions and millions of fans tuning in week after week to fresh episodes. The series has now forayed into Canada and their version of Drag Race which has been airing since July 3, 2020, on Crave is now set for a US release as well. Here's all you need to know about it:

Release date 

The US will be able to experience the first edition of the maple-flavored iteration of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' from July 27, 2020, on Logo with new episodes available every Monday at 8 pm ET.

Plot 

The show's Canadian version has all the elements that made it popular in the first place. Week after week, fierce queens handpicked from across Canada will be seen creating looks in the Werk Room that they will later serve on the runway. The queens will continue reading and being read by one another to filth, the Snatch Game will return and at the end of each episode, we'll see the queens at the bottom lipsynching for their life. Each week a queen will sashay away and the one who shanties till the end will shimmy her way out with the winning title as well as $100,000.

The 12 queens competing in the freshman season of Canada’s Drag Race include Anastarzia Anaquway (Toronto, ON), BOA (Toronto, ON), Ilona Verley (Vancouver, BC), Jimbo (Victoria, BC), Juice Boxx (Toronto, ON), Kiara (Montréal, QC), Kyne (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON), Lemon (From Toronto, living in New York City), Priyanka (Toronto, ON), Rita Baga (Montréal, QC), Scarlett Bobo (Toronto, ON) and Tynomi Banks (Toronto, ON).

Judges 

 Brooke Lynn Hytes

Hytes was a contestant on Season 11 of the American version of 'RPDR'. She went on to become the runner-up on the season and is now a judge of the first edition of '.Canada's Drag Race'.

Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman

After wowing audiences with his portrayal of Jay, a gay reality TV producer in Lifetime's series 'Unreal', he will now be seen as a full-time judge on the Canadian version of Drag Race. Early on in his career, he was also seen in the TV series 'Noah's Arc', 'The L Word' and 'Stargate Universe'. He also was seen in the 8th chapter of FX's anthology series, 'American Horror Story'.

Stacey McKenzie

McKenzie is a Jamaican-born Canadian fashion model and a runway and model, coach. 'Canada's Drag Race' is not her first time judging competition on TV, she was also seen on 'Canada's Top Model' and 'America's Next Top Model'.
