'Business Proposal': Se-jeong reveals if steamy scene of Hari and Taemoo was scripted
March was a fun month for K-drama lovers as we had several shows taking over our watchlist. ‘Business Proposal’ happened to be one of them, a light-hearted rom-com about an employee, Shin Ha-ri who accidentally goes on a blind date with her CEO, Kang Tae-moo, and then gets into a contract to be in a pretend relationship with him. The cast was equally exciting as it starred idol actress Kim Se-jeong, Ahn Hyo-seop who stole hearts with his role in ‘Dr Romantic 2’, 'Mr Queen's Seol In-ah and Kim Min-gue of ‘Snowdrop’ fame.
And while the K-drama was fun it also felt new as it went outside the tropes of the usual rom-coms. There were no unnecessary breakups or plot twists that would leave fans disheartened nor any extremely cringy moments for the sake of slapstick comedy. ‘Business Proposal’ also felt different as we had the two iconic steamy scenes between the second leads Min-gue and Seol In-ah, and the main cast -- Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong.

Was the steamy scene between Ha-ri and Tae-moo not scripted?
Fans were further surprised when in an interview, actress Kim Se-jeong who plays Ha-ri was heard saying that the steamy scene in the second last episode between her and Ahn Hyo-seop’s Tae-moo was not scripted. The scene begins with the two embracing followed by a kiss. Things then heat up as Tae-moo carries Ha-ri onto a bed and takes off his shirt. The scene had mixed reactions as some felt it was awkward at particular moments while others loved the sensualness which is quite rare in K-dramas.
Se-jeong had initially said, “The scene…where Ha-ri and Tae-moo spend the night together wasn’t originally in the script.” This led to fans thinking that the scene was not at all in the show and that it was added in later. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Sejeong explained later that she meant to say the original scene wasn’t as sensual as the one that had aired.
She clarified on an Instagram Story on April 7, “It’s not that the scene did not have a bed scene, the right expression would be that the scene wasn't explained in detail. EX) They kiss and hug each other…then morning came. We adjusted the level of [maturity] through conversations between the actors and the director. It’s not that we created a scene that didn’t exist!!!”
'I gladly want to thank you director'
One fan joked, “At this point if feels like only 15 % of HaTae scenes are scripted. Rest all are ad-libs by Sejeong and HyoSeop.” Another added, “I mean if hyoseop sejeong can think hospital room scene as bed scene, idk what to say 😂😭😭 i m fully agreeing with the fact that penthouse bed scene wasn't scripted then.” One fan was impressed, “I don't remember watching any Kdrama with a hot and steamy kissing scene like Business Proposal. Usually these Kdrama scenes are so awkward.” Another commented, “WHAT THE HECK WITH THE SCRIPT 🤣🤣🤣🤣I gladly want to thank you directors, crew and especially to Sejeong and Hyoseop for making the best intimate, aggresive yet so damn great kdrama bed scene I ever watch.”
