'Bull' Season 5 Episode 3 Preview: Is Chunk ready to take Benny's place if he leaves to become the DA?

'Bull' Season 5 is shaping up to be quite an exciting one. In the premiere, we saw Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly) having strange dreams, which seemed to have been mostly musicals. Bull was worried about the TAC, as, after the pandemic, everything had become virtual. The second episode picks up from there and we head straight into a conflict of interest between Chunk Palmer and Benny Colon.
The case was a unique one: There were a group of people who were staying in a building where they weren’t paying rent and one day a beam came down. They died in the accident, along with a young couple in bed together and there was nothing the police or the District Attorney’s office could do about it because this group was known as squatters, who didn't have rights in the building.
The dead girl's mother Evelyn decided to sue Lily Knowles, an artist dropout, who had also moved into the building. Chunk decided to be a pro-bono advocate for Lily while Benny chose to represent Evelyn. Benny swung the court in his favor as he used Lily's text messages of the previous night. However, the verdict was a wholesome one: Lily just had to pay Evelyn one dollar for damage though Evelyn won the case.
The episode ended on an interesting note: Benny was offered a run for DA, which left questions about his time at the TAC.
The synopsis for Episode 3 does not reveal much about Benny's future but seems more Chunk-centric as he rallies his wits in a perplexing case. "Bull assists Chunk as he represents a convict from his law school’s legal aid clinic, a woman accused of killing a guard while trying to escape during a prison transport. While the prosecution alleges the woman shot the guard as she tried to flee, Chunk argues that she is being falsely accused by a guard who attempted to sexually assault her during the transport.”
It promises to be another thrilling episode and Chunk might just be working towards replacing Benny in the upcoming episodes. Catch the new episode of 'Bull' on CBS on Mondays at 10 pm.
