LONDON, ENGLAND: Apart from Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington's (Nicola Coughlan) blooming romance in 'Bridgerton' Season 3: Part 1, the secret spark between Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) has caught the attention of fans.

With its premiere on May 16, 2024, Season 3 introduced a new character, Marcus, who walks into the world of Bridgertons and starts flirting with the matriarch. Their unexpected encounter makes fans wonder if Violet Bridgerton is getting her own love story soon.

If you have been religiously following 'Bridgerton', you would know that Violet's beloved husband Edmund Bridgerton (Rupert Evans) died of a bee sting at 39. Ever since then, she raised her eight children by herself and has devoted her life in getting them settled.

After her eldest son, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) finds love in Season 2, Violet too loosens up and shares her desire to give love another chance. With luck by her side, Marcus (Lady Danbury's brother) enters the scene.

The spark between them is evident and hints at a possible love story. However, the chances are slim as Violet never remarries in Julia Quinn's books.

Why doesn't Julia Quinn give a happy ending to Violet Bridgerton in her books?

Author Julia Quinn has written Violet Bridgerton as a beautiful, kind, and intelligent lady. In fact, she has been designed to such perfection that the author herself thinks too highly of her.

In a blog on her website, she mentioned, "I can’t even begin to say how touched I am that so many readers want Violet to get her own (second) happy ending, but I’m afraid I just don’t see writing her story."

"I used to think it was because she was so devoted to Edmund, but after exploring the issue of second loves in 'When He Was Wicked', I realized that really wasn’t the reason. I’ve thought about it a while, and in all honesty, I don’t think I could come up with anyone good enough for her. Seriously. I just adore her," she added.

However, despite following the source material, Netflix doesn't shy away from taking a few liberties. We have been lately witnessing characters being introduced who don't exist in Quinn's books.

It wouldn't be much of a surprise if Netflix decides to take a little de-route from the books to give Violet a happy ending in the television adaptation.

Violet Bridgerton may get a spin-off series

'Bridgerton' received its first spin-off in 2023. 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ focused on Queen Charlotte while the character of Violet also made an appearance.

At the red carpet interview of 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story', Shonda Rhimes spoke about the future of the franchise and hinted at a spin-off focusing on Violet. She said to Hello, "There’s no plan to explore anybody in particular… Although, in writing it I got very interested in Violet’s story. So, we’ll see."

Violet and Edmund's love story hasn't yet been explored in the Netflix series and that would make an excellent story for a spin-off.

Talking about her brewing romance with Marcus, we'll have to wait for Season 3: Part 2 to find out.
