Netflix recently gave us its second South African original series called 'Blood & Water'. Evoking vibes of 'Elite', 'Gossip Girl', and even 'Riverdale', the teen drama follows one girl as she tries to solve a cold case from 17 years ago. Although the first season only consisted of six episodes, the show was a hit among viewers. Since the first season was so short, many might be wondering when the second season might drop. While Netflix has not made it official yet, we are certain that it's only a matter of time. Read on to know more details about the show.

Release date

Once confirmed, the second season of 'Blood & Water' can be expected to arrive on Netflix in spring 2021. Keep watching this space for updates.

Plot

The story is set in the surroundings of Parkhurst College, a prestigious inner-city school for elite scholars and academic overachievers. Season 1 of 'Blood & Water' follows the exploits of 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo as she engineers her transfer to the school to investigate the 17-year-old cold case of the abducted-at-birth older sister she's never met.

Puleng meets the beautiful and alluring Fikile “Fiks’’ Bhele from the nearby private school, who she believes is her sister. In her on-going search, Puleng finds an ally and assistant investigator in Wade, while also having to handle the opinionated Wendy Dlamini, who at times is a bit too ‘woke’, She also meets Karabo ‘KB’ Molapo, resident bad boy and high school heartthrob who is struggling to live up to his father's high expectations. By the end of the first season, Puleng and KB were dating, but more importantly, after unraveling Fikile's life with her search, Puleng finally reveals the truth to Fikile. As the first season ended, Puleng's father was also undergoing a trial over his suspected involvement in Puleng's sister's disappearance.

In Season 2, we can expect some more tension between Fikile and Puleng as the former comes to terms with what she has learned. Meanwhile, we might also learn more about KB's father's involvement in the kidnapping.

Ama Qamata ('My Perfect Family', 'Rhythm City') plays Puleng Khumalo, while Fikile “Fiks’’ Bhele is played by Khosi Ngema starring in her debut role.
