In early January, there were rumors that YG Entertainment was planning a comeback for Blackpink in the first half of 2022 but it had been postponed. Many joked that Blackpink’s hiatus was almost the same duration as most South Korean men’s mandatory military service. The global K-pop group’s last comeback was in October 2020. It has been one year and four months since Blackpink has released new music and frustrated fans decided to boycott YG till they complied with their wishes.

YG’s stocks fell for the second time since Lisa’s solo debut promotions which were non-existent. However, it looks like they are not aware of the fans’ boycotting decision or are ignoring it as they have once again announced new merchandise for Blackpink fans. As a Valentine’s Day gift, the label shared that they were releasing ‘Blackpink 2022 Welcoming Collection’ which many gathered was a video clip and a bunch of photos.

‘We want Blackpink music’

While a couple of Blinks (Blackpink’s fandom) were excited about the new merch, a majority of the fans decided to create an uproar and make sure YG knew that they were not joking about the boycott. They were blunt as they trended #WeWantBLACKPINKMusic and made tweets like, “F**K YOU YG WHERE IS BLACKPINK?? NO MUSIC NO MONEY.” One fan shared, “A f**king 500 days without music 🤨 make it make a sense YG?  Blackpink are literally your biggest group and the biggest gg on the planet rn.”

‘Enough is enough’

One Blink posted, “Oh, come on, we just need a response from you. Is that difficult? We truly love seeing them together, but their return is being postponed. No, it's not okay.” Another commented, “YG think we are stup!d or what? put out music NO MUSIC NO MONEY.” One fan added, “So that they continue to pay millions in the mvs of other groups while my favs don't give them music? No thanks we will no longer do that for you.” Another desperate Blink said, “Bro we literally just want music.”

One fan tweeted, “IF YOU JUST RELEASE A FULL ALBUM U CAN HAVE ALL OUR MONEY BUT NO YOU STILL CHOOSE TO DROP THIS ONLY 30MINS LONG VIDEO JUST A Q&A THAT MADE BY UR STAFF. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.” Another pointed out that the merchchandise wasn’t even good, “I'm not one to hate or be meanful spirited. But I've got to show my utter discontent with this. Not only are blinks desperate for music and not another photo book. But this is distateful, never seen such primitive design and it's not even pretty, in fact, it's ugly…”
