Spoilers for 'Black Mafia Family' Episode 2 'Rumors'

'Black Mafia Family' just dropped its second episode and we have mixed feelings about it. The show follows brothers Demetrius 'Meech' Flenory (Demetrius Flenory Jr) and Terry Flenory (Da'Vinchi) as they combine their brain and brawn to take on the cocaine world on their way to becoming the kings of Detroit.

Episode 1 of 'BMF' was meant for character introductions and setting the scene for the story with the season premiere having a slow start. Episode 2 is where we see the story pick up as things heat up and the danger rearing its head. Things are going to get serious as Meech is on the prowl for vengeance.

'Black Mafia Family': Release date, spoilers, cast and all about Starz drama

The first episode of 'Black Mafia Family' saw a spike in passion for the Flenory brothers as they set their sights on becoming kings. They are in preparation of starting their own operation with selling 50$ baggies not satisfying them. This could lead them in trouble and trouble does come calling as we see Terry get shot in the head. The story picks up from here.

Episode 2 'Rumors' picked up the slack as we were treated to some heat as we saw Demetrius in a proper state of anger on hearing of Terry's attack. Demetrius Flenory Jr is doing a great job so far considering this is his first acting job. We see the fury behind his actions as he investigates the cause and attacker of his brother. Lamar (Eric Kofi Abrefa) is like a tiger in the grass except there's no grass and he's a very evident danger on the loose. He is looking to get back in the game and joins up with the 12th Street boys to get a foothold again. Meech too is making moves as we see him try and recruit a player from another gang. He's got aspirations and he won't be distracted. Although Terry was attacked the episode didn't see much attention on him as it chose to focus on what deals were going down in the background.

On the family front, Charles (Russell Hornsby) is worried about the rest of the family getting in danger due to Meech's drug dealing and puts his foot down on Meech leaving the house. Hornby is playing the role of the father quite well as we feel his frustration and anger. Meech also has his own troubles as we saw their hideout be comprised forcing them to move the stash. We may also get to see some resistance in the future from B-Mickie (Myles Truitt) as he disobeys Meech and kills a player. His mother says she can't keep doing this with the line, "A mother's love can only go so far".  The episode's biggest appeal lay with Lamar as he gave us chills with his maniacal but maybe calculative behavior. We see him go about town meeting people and planning potential plays as he attacks and even kills mercilessly.

Although they said 'Armageddon is here', it certainly didn't feel like it with the second episode not impressing by much. They did begin the race, but unfortunately, it's off to a slow start. Although not too bad, we hope the show displays its potential in the weeks to come.

'Black Mafia Family' airs every Sunday at 8 pm ET on Starz.
