'Billions' Season 5 Episode 8 Preview: Here's what happened before Covid break
If 'Billions' Season 5 Part Two's trailer is anything to go by, there's enough to know that there's going to be deception, trash-talking, some sexcapades, and some all-out action starting from Episode 8 premiering Sunday, September 5, on Showtime. The clip teased an ugly war brewing between Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Mike Prince (Corey Stoll), Chuck Rhoades rocking a clean-shaven look and eager to take someone down, while Taylor Mason and Wendy appear to be on damage control, or so we think.
The mid-season finale garnered immense flak for not being typical 'Billions'. However, the return promises enough, and while we hope it delivers, here's a quick look at each character's storyline before Covid-19 had the show skid to a screeching halt. Spoilers below if you still haven't caught up with the season so far.

Axe's gunning for revenge, and this time it's personal
Axe makes it his life's mission to torpedo Prince and that becomes personal between the duo. 'The Limitless S**t' saw him pop a productivity-enhancing drug, Vigilantrix. Literally, every member of Axe Cap and Taylor Mason Carbon swallow a few and what follows is some intense and insane moves that an already-high-on-the-red-pill Axe approves without a second thought. All on a hunch that they'd stand to make billions of dollars on investments that may actually sink the ship should the move backfire.
Wendy and Tanner's relationship hits a speed bump
Wendy (Maggie Siff), is in a relationship with Nico Tanner (Frank Grillo) and while the chemistry is out there for the world to see, it goes full-tilt south when Axe sabotages their evening with a display of the artist's latest work. This may have caused a rupture, and only time will tell if her boss' intention is to separate her from the artist or use it as a ruse to get her closer to him.
Chuck Rhoades has enough personal s**t to deal with
Rhoades Sr is dying and that has Chuck run around trying to save his life while also juggle his personal commitments. He does have a moral win by getting secretary of the Treasury, Todd Krakow (Danny Strong) to resign. In an attempt to build a legal case, Kate Sacker (Condola Rashad) and Chuck subtly threaten Krakow who accuses the treasury of being corrupt and gets kicked out, especially after referring to the member's corruptive mindset as the coronavirus.
Taylor Mason's caught in the crossfire
Taylor Mason Carbon is looking for a climb and the dynamic head-honcho is keen to build a solid structure. There is that plan to work with Mike Prince on the tin project which has become a cause of stress across the Supply Chain honchos. Mike plays the longer game by putting an end to the operations and that makes Axe mad enough to know he's been played as Taylor Mason Carbon takes a hit.
