Season 4 of 'Killing Eve' saw Villanelle attempt to redeem herself after parting ways with Eve. Beginning with her living a monastic life in rural England, the fourth and final season of the BBC drama, quickly showed her getting disillusioned and murdering those who were accommodating her at the church.

For the uninitiated, here's a quick rundown of the series that kicked off with Phoebe Waller-Bridge donning the hat of a showrunner. 'Killing Eve' is a spy thriller series that follows the attempts of MI6 agent Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) to bring down Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a psychopathic assassin. However, she soon makes some startling discoveries while also becoming obsessed with Villanelle and vice versa. Season 3 of 'Killing Eve' ended with Villanelle and Eve going their own ways, never to see each other, after realizing that they bring out the worst in each other.

Episode 3 of 'Killing Eve' Season 4, titled 'A Rainbow In Beige Boots,' starts with Villanelle breaking into Eve's hotel room in London. Eve is least bothered about Villanelle's return and seems to show no interest in Villanelle's pursuit of redemption, asking her to be gone by the time she returns. As Eve tails Helene and her activities, we see Villanelle make an appointment with Martin, a psychiatrist, and friend of Eve's.

Essentially holding Martin hostage, Villanelle has a therapy session, during which she expresses how the murders at the church disturb her. Martin begins to try and help her find the roots of her problems, and what started as a weird impromptu therapy session seems to flower into something a lot more meaningful. Meanwhile, Eve returns to her hotel room and reads the messages that Villanelle sent Martin while pretending to be Eve.

Eve goes to Martin's house and shares an emotional moment with Villanelle after the latter accidentally knocks Martin out. It's during this conversation that Eve asks Villanelle whether she's heard of the fable of the scorpion and the frog to which Villanelle responds by asking whether the beings "hook up." Eve goes on to reveal that the scorpion and the frog die because of the scorpion's inability to change its nature. The animal fable that Eve refers to is about how some people end up hurting those around them even when it's not their intention to do so. Eve receives an alert on her phone and a police team breaks in immediately to arrest Villanelle, who is in a state of shock.

Episode 3 of 'Killing Eve' Season 4 ends with Villanelle in a prison cell, wondering what to do next.

'Killing Eve' airs Sundays at 8 pm ET on BBC America.
