Jodie Comer’s character Villanelle from ‘Killing Eve’ became an icon among the queer community for its most realistic representation of a gay person. The actress and her Russian assassin character were heaped with praise alike until fans started calling her out for allegedly dating a Trump supporter. On Tuesday, July 7, a number of ‘Killing Eve’ fans took to Twitter to slam Comer for allegedly being romantically involved with a Republican. While she is yet to comment on these rumors surrounding her love life, Twitter users have cited that she’s reportedly in a relationship a Trump supporter named James Burke.
“It appears she’s probably dating some guy called James Burke. A guy called James Burke is also a republican who has made some racist and homophobic comments; and they might be the same person so Jodie Comer is now cancelled.” wrote an angry user. Comer’s fans have expressed disappointment in her for going against everything she once stood for. Many Twitter users have called her out for supporting the Black Lives Matter, saying it was only a pretense. One user wrote, “Jodie comer after posting the blm hashtag on her story once and recording a video for pride then going back to her republican boyfriend." Another added, “Jodie Comer dating a Trump supporter, while she's portraying an LGBT character and reading poetry as an 'ally' is not only wrong but disgusting. Also her posts about BLM now look like performance activism.”
