Fans of 'The Chair,' you might want to brace yourselves for this one. The Netflix comedy-drama series will not be returning for a second season, and this news is coming from lead star Sandra Oh herself.

Following the life of Professor Ji-Yoon Kim, after she becomes the chair of Pembroke University's failing English department, the first season of 'The Chair' opened to favorable reviews and earned Sandra a SAG Award nomination for lead female actor in a comedy series. Sadly, Sandra Oh has revealed that the series has not been renewed by Netflix for a second season. Breaking the news during an interview with Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast, Sandra Oh disclosed that she hasn't received any updates regarding the renewal of 'The Chair,' so she's "guessing that's not happening."

'Killing Eve' star Sandra Oh says that years of discrimination conditioned her to believe she'd never land a leading role

"I would have loved it, because I just thought that there was so much material there to potentially explore," the 'Grey's Anatomy' star added. Given that key elements had been established over the course of the first season of 'The Chair,' Sandra was really excited to see how things would take off from there. Though Sandra was "sad" about the abrupt end to the series, she concluded on a lighter note, saying she was "happy that it happened" and that it was "a great experience."

However, her fans don't have to brood over this disappointing announcement for long. Sandra Oh will soon be seen in a brand new season of BBC's 'Killing Eve,' a show about a British Intelligence agent's attempts to take down a psychopathic assassin. Sandra Oh will also be voicing Ming Lee in Disney's 'Turning Red.' The animated coming-of-age film is about Meilin Lee, a 13-year-old girl who turns into a red panda whenever she gets stressed or excited and how she deals with her overprotective mother and wades through the chaotic waters of adolescence.

'Killing Eve' is set to premiere on February 27, 2022 while 'Turning Red' will release on Disney+ on March 11, 2022, and will have a theatrical release in countries where the streaming service isn't available.
