LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In 2009, James Cameron's 'Avatar' took the box office by storm to become the first movie in Hollywood to earn more than $2 billion at the global box office. 13 years after the release of the original movie, the much-awaited sequel 'Avatar: The Way of Water' has given a befitting reply to all the critics by earning more than $1 billion at the box office in just two weeks.

It doesn't come as a shock that 'The Way of Water' is performing so well at the box office and has broken several records since its release. It has already overtaken several big releases in terms of earning money at the box office. However, 'Avatar' has entered history books once again as the second movie in the BIG BLUE saga entered the billion-dollar club even when it's facing so many difficulties in several markets.
According to figures released by Variety, the sequel has sailed past $1 billion globally in just 14 days, becoming the fastest movie this year to cross the monumental box office milestone. In 2022, only two other movies have managed to achieve the coveted feat: 'Top Gun: Maverick' and 'Jurassic World: Dominion'. Tom Cruise's action-packed sequel to the 1986 original film took 31 days to enter the billion-dollar club while 'Dominion' had to wait for four months to cross $1 billion worldwide.
