'Arrow' Season 8 Episodes 1 and 2 might see Oliver Queen recruit Lyla Michaels as Monitor's Harbinger for 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'

Stephen Amell teased that the first two episodes of 'Arrow' Season 8 will see his character Oliver Queen fulfilling a specific task for the Monitor. Based on stills released for the second episode, it looks like that task may be to recruit Lyla to join the Monitor in her destined role as Harbinger

There are two characters who are essential to the story of 'Crisis on Infinite Earths', besides the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) and the Anti-Monitor (also LaMonica Garrett) of course. They are Pariah, the scientist who frees the Anti-Monitor from his prison, and Harbinger, the Monitor's top lieutenant who recruits soldiers to fight against the Anti-Monitor, who threatens to destroy the entire multiverse to increase his own power.

Once the 'Crisis' begins, we will be seeing Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson) take up the role of Harbinger. In the comics, Lyla Michaels was a young woman who was rescued by the Monitor as a little girl after her parents were killed.

The cosmic being raised her to be his right hand, empowering her with a range of abilities and training her to assist him in his task as guardian of the multiverse. While the Lyla on 'Arrow' hasn't shown any superpowers or connections to the Monitor yet, she has been using the codename Harbinger in her role as an agent of A.R.G.U.S for quite some time.

LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor in 'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 'Welcome to Hong Kong' (The CW)

Stephen Amell had previously teased that the first two episodes of 'Arrow' Season 8, 'Starling City' and 'Welcome to Hong Kong', will see his character Oliver Queen/Green Arrow fulfilling a specific task for the Monitor. Based on stills released for the second episode, it looks like that task may be to recruit Lyla to join the Monitor in her destined role as Harbinger.

The official plot synopsis for the episode also hints at the same thing saying: "Oliver (Stephen Amell), John (David Ramsey), Laurel (Katie Cassidy Rogers), and Tatsu (guest star Rila Fukushima) seek out an important person within The Monitor's (guest star LaMonica Garrett) plan. Connor (Joseph David Jones) has a heart to heart with his brother (guest star Charlie Barnett)."

One of the images shows Lyla standing in a room and another still features the Monitor in what appears to be the same setting. The CW has already confirmed that Lyla as the Harbinger will have a major part to play in 'Crisis' and a promotional image showing off her new look was also previously released.

'Arrow' Season 8 will begin airing on The CW October 15 with new episodes arriving every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
