'Arrow' Season 8's 1st 2 episodes will see Oliver revisit the past, Monitor may use this to teach him he needs his friends

The first two episodes of season 8 will see Oliver revisiting some moments from his past. While it is entirely possible that the Monitor just needs him to pick up some powerful weapons for the coming war, the trip could also help remind Oliver that he is nothing without the help of his friends.

'Arrow' Season 8 will see Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) preparing for his impending death in 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' after leaving with the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) to fulfill his destiny in the show's last season. Considering the 'Crisis' will see Oliver and his fellow Arrowverse heroes going up against the cosmic evil known as the Anti-Monitor (also LaMonica Garrett), a being who is basically a god in terms of power, it doesn't look like the heroes stand much of a chance.

However, Oliver's biggest strength has always been the family of allies he has built up over the years and it looks like the Monitor plans on reminding him to trust his friends. The first two episodes of the eighth season will see Oliver revisiting some moments from his past in order to complete a task for the Monitor.

While it is entirely possible the Monitor just needs him to pick up some powerful artifacts from the past for the coming war, the trip could also serve a secondary purpose as a much-needed lesson for the Emerald Archer. Amell previously revealed part of the script for a scene from the season premiere where his character Oliver speaks to an unknown individual.

The dialogues, posted to Amell's Twitter on August 26, revealed Oliver believes he needs to face the coming battle on his own because he doesn't want his friends to get hurt because of him. The exchange goes like this: "If I let you help me, you will get hurt or you will get killed and it will be because of me". "You don't know that". "I do know that".

Based on the lines, it looks like Oliver is going to take some convincing before he accepts he needs help to face the Anti-Monitor and to complete whatever tasks the Monitor has given him. Oliver's friends are unlikely to stand by doing nothing when the hero's life is in danger, whether Oliver himself agrees or not.

There's no way Oliver would have made it this far in his journey without the help of friends like John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy Rodgers), not to mention his wife Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), and the trip he will be taking to the show's biggest moments should help him realize that fact.

'Arrow' Season 8 will begin airing on The CW October 15.
