LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 contestants performed their best during the Hollywood Week duet round. While some aspiring singers have to return home, multiple others advanced to Showstoppers. Elise Kristine and Matt Wilson's smooth performance advanced them to the next round.
The pair performed 'You are the Reason' by Callum Scott and instantly impressed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Riche, and Luke Bryan. However, they failed to win the hearts of 'American Idol' 2023 viewers with their performance. Some of the viewers found Matt's vocals amazing, while some think Elise's performance was weak. Matt chooses Elise for the duet and named their team "Chocolate Vanilla Swirl". Matt and Elise put their silky smooth vocals together to perform 'You are the Reason' by Callum Scott. After the duo's performance, the judges praised the performance and announced that Matt and Elise will continue to the showstoppers round. The judges also noted about Matt, "He owns it." Notably, Luke was overwhelmed by Matt's performance. Meanwhile, Katy complimented his confidence.
Did Elise Kristine deliver a weak performance?
'American idol' judges and fans praised Matt for his amazing duet with Elise. But the viewers didn't think that Elise should advance to the next level.
