Apple TV 'Foundation': Who is Hugo? Daniel MacPherson's character to play key role

One of the latest characters introduced in 'Foundation' Episode 3, titled 'The Mathematician's Ghost' is Daniel MacPherson's Hugo. The character is revealed to be Salvora Hardin's (Leah Harvey) love interest and an intergalactic space junker of sorts. Over the course of the episode, it is also revealed that Hugo is from Thespis as he plays a key role in identifying the imminent threat that Terminus is under.
The impending attack comes as a surprise to Hugo and Hardin, along with the rest of the elderly statesmen as Terminus was off-limits to any form of attacks under the Imperial code. Much about Hugo in the sci-fi epic is kept under wraps, however, what we do know is that he is part of the good guys and will play his part in helping Hardin overcome the threat. MacPherson is an Australian actor best known for his performance as PC Cameron Trait in the UK Television favorite 'The Bill'. His other major works include, 'Infini' and 'The Shannara Chronicles.'

'The Mathematician's Ghost ' also sheds light on the death of Brother Darkness as he is replaced by a younger version, who is starkly different from his age-old predecessor. The episode witnesses some poignant moments between him and Demerzel (Laura Birn), the android first minister.
The major part of the episode focuses on Hardin and her astute observations about the vault that's expanded its energy field by a few meters. Only time will tell if he can indeed sort out the threat between the intruders and Terminus. Hugo's past with her remains a mystery as well and that just adds to the suspense surrounding Hardin. She is termed to be someone special and is looked at as their messiah, but just how much remains to be seen. For now, we do know that she is unaffected by the Vault's energy field, but there's no doubt there's more to her than just handling force fields.
